Which timing chain?

Im getting heads installed next month and was gonna get a new timing chain and gear.(I hear the stock ones go at about 100,000 miles.)Is any brand better than another?

Get the FRPP billet gears and dual roller chain. Heck of a lot better than the crappy cast ones. Stay away from timing gears such as pete jackson.

Anything Billet is awsome!! Where can I find that set up?

I got mine from HP Motorsport in Omaha. I'm sure jegs sells them though. I think it ran like $70.

This gives me the rite idea,thanks I liked that gt-40 crate motor with 430HP

I liked the BB with 535.

I picked one up at napa. Cost about the same as the frrp one. Whatever you do just stay away from autozone and advance the chain there computers showed for our cars wasn't even a double roller like the original.

I got a doubleroller Rollmaster Billet Timing chain from Ed...a very nice piece for $90

Friend of mine just installed the autozone (or maybe it was advanced...) one and he broke like 3 teeth before he even got it on. Or so he claims....

I haven't ever heard of a timing chain going after 100k miles. I have had them last past 200k with no problems. I just run a trickflow one. Dual chain setup. The geared ones are not bad at all. I really like the setup and if I had to do it again I would go with the loud gears

My timing chain had some stretch in it but that was expected at 143k I guess...it would have kept on going just fine...never heard of that problem either...

I prefer the "silent" ones...I don't like a "noisy" engine bay...I would rather it be shown through the exhaust

Mine went @ 100K. Was ready to skip teeth. It was that bad.

It's pretty rare to hear about a pushrod's timing chain to break. They do get slack in them though. Get one with an adjustment so you can degree the cam.
