88 rollerblock in and early stang.I am going to try to use the early timing cover with dip stick hole and a 2 piece eccentric for a fuel pump.Should i get a timing chain for a early motor or a roller block. What interference issues could I run into?

I just finished dealing with this.

My roller block came with the late style double roller timing chain, I ended up using a later style 1-piece fuel pump eccentric (its about 3/16" thinner then an early style) and an early timing cover. Everything seems to fit well, with plenty of clearance.

When I bought my timing set, the application guide specified a different timing set for the 5.0 vs early model. I got the early model set, which is made for an eccentric. I used the Motorsport universal front cover with mech. fuel pump boss and front dip stick. It should be similar to your early cover. For example, the Rollmaster listing is here:
http://www.romac.com.au/pdf/2005 C&B Product List.pdf
and lists different sets for EFI and pre-EFI. You want pre-EFI.

When i was digging up the eccentrics to send to coolblue65, I found there were at least three eccentrics Ford used. Two were solid cast pieces but in two thicknesses. The thinner cast one is the same thickness as the later stamped steel two piece eccentric. That's the one coolblue65 used.
