i have a 00 GT vert with 17" rims and tires. i still have the stock Goodyear tires that come on the car when you buy it. they have 34,xxx miles on them and i will be needing some new tires soon. which tires would be a good set to get? i don't race my mustang or anything like that. its a daily driver that i use everyday.

these are the ones i'm thinking about getting, but i'm not to knowledgeable on tires:

NITTO 555R's....115 a tire
Kuhmo Ecsta Supra..... 121 a tire
Yokahama ES100's....123 a tire
Falken (forgot which kind) .... 108 a tire

you guys have any prefernce or recomendations for some tires?

thanks

i say use the Kumhos. I have them on my rear wheels. I can't rotate them because of size differences, but they last pretty good. Plus I have seen them for less then a hundred bucks a piece. I bought my 275/40 Kumhos for $122 a piece.

i just hear things about the Kuhmo's like they aren't good in wet weather and they sound loud when you put about 10k miles on them.

Hi There,
I'm throwing my hat in the ring once more regarding the Toyo Proxes 4. I know what they're like (freak'in sweet), but figured people need some more opinions other than my own to take my word for it.

Here's some links for you to check out, and possibly throw them in the mix on what you'll be getting. I'm not a salesman, I just know what it's like to drive with them on.

http://www.toyo.com/tires/tire_line...r/proxes_4.html

I've only had them on for about 2k miles, but honestly, I never new driving was so good. Road noise--minimal. Traction--awesome, like glue. In the rain, I never drive like I do when it's dry but haven't had any traction problems.

Here's where I got mine:
http://www.les-schwab.com/tires/per...ce/proxes4.html

Read some user's comments here (and ratings):
http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?t...emodel=Proxes+4

Hope that helps!

If you're not racing, get some good all season sports car tires. I'd look into BFG since they have a great selection for snow/rain/dry "performance" tires. They'd be your best bet I would imagin.

I have 20K on mine and they are actually quiter than my Dunlops. Traction in the wet is really not that bad as long as you just don't slam on the gas. I was just figuring for the price they are it couldn't hurt.

I have the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's on my vert and i love 'em. Decent price, decent mileage and they grab pretty good. Go somewhere that will do price matching because on VulcanTire.com you can get them for $101 a piece delivered. I printed the quote and took it to Sears and they beat the price by 10%. I ended up paying $91 a piece. They had to special order them because they dont normally stock them in inventory. Didnt mind waiting 3 days to save $30-40 a piece.

I had the Kumhos on mine, but just changed them for Pirelli P Zero Neros.
Much better tire than the Kumhos. My Kumhos got very choppy feeling(like they were out of balance, but they weren't) and they sucked in the rain too!

i was thinking of getting the Yokahama ES100's. i've heard good things about those tires.

no discount tire around me in texas has them though.

what about the falken beta tires? i think those are the ones. they are falkens and the tread design looks like the Yoko ES100's. anybody use Falken tires?

Time to throw another tire choice at you. I had some Cooper Cobras on my 01 and they were great. If you want a good quality all around performance tire that will last a long time give them a shot. They have a great treadwear rating. Of course they wont be as soft and sticky as a higher end tire but after all Mustangs are generally not canyon carvers.

Im getting the Cooper Zeons in a few months to replace my stockers. For a 255/40/17 tire its $575 out the door for all 4 including mounting and balancing.

the tread looks kinda like the Yokahama ES100's.
i think i want to stick with the 245/45/17's though.

would a different tire size make a difference in performance or ride quality?

Bridgestone Potenza RE-750
These are on my wife's 01 and we love em. Great grip, great in the rain, quiet, and now, hopefully, they will wear well.

I have the ES 100's and love them. I got the 275/40's in the rear and am gettin 2.1 60' times consistently. They are awesome in the rain, except for the hydroplane caused by 2 feet of rear rubber. The tread is very interesting also, see picture.

I got them for about $100 a tire but my friend had a co-op their and got things at cost...
