Which turbo kit?

I am about to order a turbo kit for my 05 Mustang GT. I can not pick between HP Performance and Turbonetics. If i get the Hp Performance kit it would be the stage 2 kit with the T67 and boost control. But it takes a couple of months to come in. Where the Turbonetics can get here in less then a month but does not have no options for upgrades and has no fuel pump, but it will be cheaper.
I was wondering if anyone on here had one of these kits on their car and how they liked it. Or if anyone could give me some info on these companies and the quality of their products. Any help would be appreciated.

Turbonetics is fairly new in designing and producing turbos for american engines. If this was a question as to should I get this for my Acura Integra or Nissian 350Z, I would say - Turbonetics. But you are asking for your Stang so.............HP Performance has been around awhile and has spent many hours and lots of $$ in R & D for nearly all engine platforms of the Mustangs from the 5.0 to the 3-V 4.6.

Sometimes you get what you pay for and with the HP kit that is indeed the truth.

I personally would go with the HP kit and wait for it like a 6 year old does for Christmas.

Just a thought but I have heard many good things about the STS kit. I am trying to choose between the STS and the HP kit myself, but then tax season is still a little way off yet.

Thanks for the info. I think that i just might get the HP kit. I guess it really doesn't matter about price if you are already spending that kind of money.
The other question that i have is that my local tuner uses SCT and the HP kit comes with a diablo could he use the tune that is on the diablo and run it on his dyno that has SCT software.

I would talk to Jim Napier at TurboHorsepower about their single kit, it is a lot cheaper than the HP kit and Jim is great to work with.

One thing STS has been starting to tinker with are the rear mounted turbos. Some folks disagree as to the efficiency of them, but after researching the pros and cons of a rear mounted set-up, I am becoming a proponent of a rear mount set-up, so long as it is a quality fabrication and installation.

You will want to check with your tuner to be sure, but I would make an educated guess that he will probably pull the tune with your Diablo device, set to stock spec and then start fresh with the SCT to retune. Each device's PCM/ECM tune file is dependent on the tuning device. Sort of like (in the computer world) trying to open a Microsoft operating system file on a Macintosh operating system. It CAN be done without the device, but it can be very costly. Check with your tuner or HP to be sure.

The nicest turbo kit I have seen for the S197's is the Powerhouse Automotive one. I plan on adding this kit some day to my car.

when i first started saving for a kit was for the tt kit they have, but now i think that it would be to much for what i am aiming for. i will be happy with 500rwhp and suppention work. (of course internals and clutch)
i saw you car when you started the forum showing pics of your work, just i never saw the end product. how did it turn our. when are you at full boost.

Due to many reasons beyond my control I still haven’t finished the build yet. I hope to have it done soon. Jim has been great to work with during the process, I made several changes after the fact and he will build the single kit any way you would like.

Has anyone here ran the kit from Hellion? The site is hellionpowersystems.com The S197 kit looks to have everything but a tune and is upgradeable as well.

I Would say Hellion. No hassle, great instruction sheet and an all around product and it will make the same boost as all the others. I went one size larger and upgraded to a race gate valve. I live in a state that requires cats so this kit allows me to keep them.

You might ask why I am stating this. I did a lot of research and reading all about turbos for six months on all the forums including one dedicated to only turbos.

Friend of mine ordered his Turbo kit from here. He said that they are very nice and great deal. The reason it isn't as popular is it has a slightly larger turbo so it spools a bit later than the other "mainstream" kits.

nice set-up....i myself will be in for a turbo set-up pretty soon here! as you can see my car is lowered, my question is! does the hot side pipe connect directly to the factory H-pipe (where the stock clamps are) if so, where will my shorties connect too? will any of the pipes be to low to the ground since i'm lowered w/ eibach spotlines? i hope this make sense to you guys.

All of the turbo systems I know of utilize the stock manifolds. Whether that includes shorties or not I don't know. You would need to contact the turbo company you buy from about that. Also, with a turbo setup you would only have one pipe coming from your motor to the back of the car (usually 2.5" or 3" downpipe). Most companies supply an off-road Y pipe to connect that single downpipe to your stock over axle pipes so that you can use your axle backs that you have bought or what not.

Clearance shouldn't be a problem either, our cars don't have issues with Long Tubes so I'm pretty sure that there wouldn't be an issue with turbo piping.

yo... retfr8flyr.... did you get your turbo install finished? I'm thinking of ordering a kit from jim as well. How did your install go? Was the kit complete? any fabricating needed? Does the turbo spool up quick? Thanks for any info!! I'm pumped about purchasing, but I'm trying to do my due diligence........

Still have not finished the install but my time frame has nothing to do with Jim's kit. The kit is very complete and the kit itself could be install in a couple days.
