Which wheels for me? Opinions Appreciated!

Here is a pic of my car first. I am definitley going to go with anthracite because I think it blends well with my color scheme. I like chrome as well, but I don't want the extra weight that chrome often can bring to the table.

I put 2 pictures up of the Bullitt's, one is a Shelby AR wheel and the other is the American Muscle Wheel. They look identical, but I'm curious about the quality of the wheels. I'm willing to spend a little more the for the AR Shelby's if they are better quality. I really like the AR500, but I called about it and one shop told me they aren't due out until 2008.

I have a baby coming in December, so I need to buy some wheels now before all my money has to go to diapers!

my personal favorite, out of all the wheels available, is the Magnum looking wheel, but i have to warn you, those are from American Racing, very high quality, and i priced them a while back, and they were over $400 each, for 18x9's and 18x10's. AR makes them in their custom wheel shop, and they make them when you order them, which they say takes 4-6 weeks. if that is the style wheel you are wanting, look at wheelreplicas.com, they just released this style wheel, and for a set of 18x9's and 18x10's, they are less than $600 for the set.

as for the rest of them, the AR Shelby wheels are no better quality than the Bullitt wheels from American Muscle, at least not in my opinion. you are paying for the name. the CT-R wheels are nice, but not really a muscle car theme, and the Halibrand style wheels are nice, but i don't know anybody who has them, so i can't say...

I appreciate it Stan. I like the look of it now as well, but I think 18x10's with some 295/40 or 45 meats out back would look nasty!

I've saved for the kid already actually. My wife and I have saved and saved and in fact I have the furniture paid for, diapers for the next 2 years (my dad works for a hospital and bought them for me as a gift, he gets them wholesale)

We have the hospital bills already paid for as well, so I'm actually way ahead of schedule in reality.

But I want some wheels bad!!!!!!!!

I must say I disagree...I recently ordered a pair of the American Racing Shelby Bullitts from Tire Rack for my drag Radials and the quality is definitely much better than the American Muscle replicas. I know, I have both and I can tell you the few dollars more you spend on the AR's will be well worth it.

Forget 18's, what the point of spending the extra $ when you already have 18's.

Get the American Muscle anthrecite bullitts; 20 x 8.5's with 255/35's up front and 20 X 10's with 285/30's (or wider) out back - and drop it an 1 1/2" if you want to go balls to the wall

I just don't like the skinny tire riding on the rim look. No offense, because I think your car looks tough. But my preference is a 40 or 45 series tire on the back rim with a little lip. My rims are cool for stockers, but I want a polished lip for the rear wheels.

I really don't mean to step on any toes, but I just don't get the fascination with ginormous rims. I've come to expect it on ricer cars... goes right along with the oversized wing and oversized front fascia, and the general lack of taste altogether... but on a muscle car (or an SUV, for that matter)??? Looks SO out of place!

Just MHO, of course. Many others obviously will disagree.

Bigger because your hood contrives to make the wheels look small. If it was me, I'd be buying 20" Bullits and spraying them the same color as your stripe for the full Ford racing look but I quite like the Hallibrands.

Take it from me, whatever you pick, you'll wonder if you should have picked something else.

I'm afraid that when Ford designed the S-197 with big arches, it needed big wheels to fill them.

I know this won't be helpful...but I love that hood. Car looks great man. I hope to get that hood soon.

+1. I like the polished 18"; they look classy and stand out from the regular 17" on most GTs. I may be biased, I have 18" polished wheels too. But...if had to choose another I would definately go with gashog's suggestion. That tungsten is way hot!

I'm going to say the Halibrand look alikes. I will be getting those some time later this year and using the fanblades for winter tires.
With the classic styling of your car, IMO I'd say the 500s or the Halibrand style will fit perfectly 18s with a meaty tire and a mild drop is where I'll be.

None taken, pic is actually courtesy of American Muscle, so it not my ride. It is very nice tho, as I'm thinking about going that route.

One vote for American Racing Anthracite. The difference between those and the stock polished are subtle. The bullits look like you would be putting old wheels on a new car. Second choice are the FR500.
