just get a good tko, they are awesome trans, i loved mine..

after you drive on them for a while, its not hard to powershift one.. plus they dont break

Seriously that sounds silly to me. If you have a perfectly good trans and are looking for more out of the hole then forget the trans and just do gears. This will be MUCH cheaper and have the desired effect.

I vote that you do like I do with both of my vehicles, modify it to perform better and when you reach the point that you start breaking things, then upgrade from there. You'd be surprised how long the stock parts will hold in certain freak-ish situations.

my stock t45 has over 110k on it, itgrinds 2nd and somtimes 3rd cold, when its hot, 3rd gear feels like mash patatoes when i shift in to it once in a while, and i have over 50, 5000-6000rpm clutch dumps on slicks making over 320rwhp and 300+rwtq, my t-45 wont die along with my stock 8.8

when it blows im just going to rebuild it! T-45 FTW!!!

I don't understand why you want to replace your entire transmission just for a steeper first gear... My T-45 came with 3.27 and I plan on changing out the ring and pinion to produce a 3.55 or maybe 3.73 gear. I'm well above 325 ft/lbs of torque and no problems yet.

Yea I talked to the guys at promotion today about their t45 and that's what I'm going to go with. The only reason I'm looking into them now is I know something bad is coming.. How is your car coming along cobra, any new times?

good!, it should be getting retuned in the next few weeks, i cant wait to rev it out to 7000rpms with the MHS cams, and the new 6061 plenuim! im hoping to make about 340ish rwhp!

That will be bad ass, I wish I woul have changed my vavle springs to be able to use a bigger cam but keep me posted on your progress. Let's see who can hit 11s first....

Why the C4 over the 4R70W? Built 4R70Ws are very strong. Heck, stock ones are pretty damn strong.

I've got a buddy with a nitrous Mach 1 running 7.0 in the 1/8. He's running a Lentech built 4R70W and a 3800 stall. It is a daily driven car, with almost 150,000 miles, and has had that nitrous and transmission setup for almost 100,000 miles. The transmission more than gets the job done, and it rides and drives just like stock. If you took that car out for a drive, you would never have a clue that it runs 7.0 in the 1/8, or that it had that transmission setup.

It's my opinion that if you are going to spend money on a built transmission for drag racing, do it right the first time and get an auto. If you want it for other reasons (you enjoy going through the gears, or you like to bark the pipes with it in gear, etc.), then that's fine. But if it's strictly for racing, go auto or go home.

A good reason you wouldn't know the car ran a 7.0 by riding in the car is because when he races he is on the bottle I doubt he rides around the street spraying it from light to light. This was not a thread on should I switch to an auto trans, it was simply which trans would you choose between a tko or t56. I have since talked to a company about a built t45 but I still don't know about a blow proof bell housing for that. Do they make one?

my buddy has STOCK 3.27's and it will blow the tires off in first, second and third gear with his viper T56. my car with 3.90's will spin all the way into the high end of 3rd (from a 60 roll not a dead stop) with a T56.

i would say the perfect rear gear with a T56 with the long first gear would be a 3.55 or 3.73.
