Whine from Tranny??

Hey guys, my roomate has a '03 GT Deluxe. He has a real faint whine coming from the tranny(we think) in 1st and 2nd gears only. The car runs fine, tranny shifts real smooth. Should he be worried????

I don't think it's anything to worry about. I put on an aftermarket shifter and really notice the whine now. (I actually like it). It's normal. If he's the least bit concerned, though, he can take it in, as it's under warranty.

ive heard whine, its nothing that i ever thought was serious though..but if it does get bad, like he said, he has a warranty

Maybe its coming from the rear end? I thought my tranny was whining, but it was the rear end.

He bought it new ? Maybe has an aftermarket shifter in it already ?

Fluid change is cheap for manual, and may help, or dealer warranty should definately fix him up no matter what. I wouldn't be too worried about it unless it pretty loud.
