Ok, heres the deal. Towards the end of July I had to make a 3 hour drive from where I live. At the start of the drive, 5th gear started making a weird noise. Come to find out, when I got back home, I was low on tranny fluid. I filled it back up with the reccomended lubricant, but I think it was too late. It whines really loud now.
Heres the symptoms: 1,2,3,and 5th gear whine really loud. 4th gear is completely silent. Not sure why. When im sitting still, with the clutch out, the transmission makes a small rattling noise, and when i push the clutch in, the noise goes away. I can confirm that it is coming from the tranny, it isnt a TO bearing or anything.
Does my whole transmission need rebuilt? Or is this maybe some kind of bearing or something that I can just replace? I might have to just tear the tranny apart to find out, but I thought I would ask here first to see if anyone knew. Thanks for the help.
