Have had this whipple supercharger type sound coming from my transmission (t5z 2 weeks) old... Sound typically from 2-3rd gear most noticeable in 3rd. I have also
heard this on the old t5 but did not expect this from the new tranny.. Took it to
local mustang shop and got new df clutch and transmission oil... still pretty loud.. But
do like the feel of the new clutch.

I also need to mention the shifter is an MGW with boot.. I had a pro 5.0 shifter previously... Is this sound normal:shrug:

it is not normal. when you go into 4th does the noise go away? i dont remember exactly what it was on mine but when i brought it over to promotion to drop off as a core they said it has to do with the input shaft. either the gear that engages the cluster or the bearings are shot.

Legalize420,

Yes no whine noise in 4th gear. This is a brand new t5z with extended input shaft
to work with 94-98. I purchased from modern driveline which is a pretty reputable
company specializing in transmissions.. Not sure if I got a dud?

Also installed new clutch and adjustable quadrant..
