As most of you know I have been having this whistling problem for over year now. I have change alternator, IAC, EGR, Idler , belt and tensionner and no luck.

Today I spray carb cleaner to ever vacuum hose there is and upper and lower intake
no idle change so I know there is no vacuum leak. As I listen I feel like it's comming from back of the engine and I am thinking now it maby my starter motor might be making that whistle?

Does starter whistle when it's going bad ? Where else should I look guys ? I am getting annoyed and frustrated that I am thinkning about selling my car .

Please help

Could it be your C&L Plenum? I have the same plenum and it whistles under slight throttle but goes away after I give it a little more gas.

I even put stock plenum and tb but still there's whistle. It's all started after my cams went in last year.

I don't think it would be the cams, did you check if your intake manifold is cracked?

I checked it but don't see any crack, I sprayed carb cleaner to see if idle change but noting. My car does have idle problem as it goes up and down a little. I am thinking starter went bad or I just have to take the hole upper and lower intake out to see if it's cracked somewhere I cannot see.

Do you have your cams tuned properly? That could cause the idle problem if it's not tuned correctly. As for the whistle problem, does it only occur when driving or at idle?

My car is dyno tuned, as for the whistle is starts after 1500rpm and up . At idle no whistle at all but as soon as my rpm 1500-2000 then I can hear the whistle. Every time I shift I hear like siss like BOV letting air out. When I am driving at 2000 rpm it's constant whistle. If my rpm falls down below 1500 I don't hear a thing even I am driving or idle. What can It be ?

Thank in adavance to help me out

If you truly don't have an air / vacuum leak, then I think it's the design of the plenum that causes the whistle. My TFS plenum whistles, and I'm 99% sure there is no leak. It only seems to whistle slightly, and only within the lower rpm range. Sounds kinda like blowing across the top of a coke bottle.

If it whistles in the upper rpms, then it's most likely you have a crack somewhere around your intake manifold or upper plenum. Also a leaked vaccum hose can cause idle issues.

I picked up my car today but still there's whistle. I told them to look for leak and they end up changing the lower intake gasket . I told them , I haven't change lower intake gasket so they though it might help.

They are saying they don't know what causing the whistle and it might be just air turbulence. I had to pay 298.00 for it so I am not happy at all cause I told them to do leak test before changing any thing. My wife is so mad with me for spending money on my car cause we just had a baby girl ( she is 2 months old ) so my wife is not working and I am not making money to support both of us.

Other then that my car runs fine just this ****ing whistle

Thanks

some of that noise could either be the IAC or the hose going from the air inlet tube to the IAC...there is a black box inline on that hose that acts as a muffler, make sure that there are no cracks in that "muffler" or the hoses

I have the same problem with the wistle....its honestly driving me crazy and i am also considering selling my car. I believe it all started after i installed the new TB and plenum. At first i thought it was my clutch and TOB so i had everything replaced...and that didnt solve the problem. Soon enough im going to put the stock intake tube back, stock TB, and plenum to see if that helps. Hope you find your problem...so i can fix mine too!!!
