My engine has developed a whistle suddenly. I first thought it was a bearing but ran it without the serpentine and well, it's a whistle.

Removed the idle air bypass valve and cleaned it. It appeared to be functioning correctly. It is also spaced off my BBk tb. (80mm)

Car seems to idle fine. Sprayed carb cleaner all over everything I could think of intake related and no appreciable change in sound or idle.

It sounds like it's coming from the passenger side.

Car is desmogged. All gaskets were new and I even used a torque wrench when tightening everything down!

What do you think?

There's a sharp edge in bbk tb that causes that whistle. You can grind it down and eliminate the noise.

I normally would say the same thing, but i'd still wonder why it started all the sudden.

Holy moly that's loud.

Try and smooth out the IAC holes on the TB. BBK's are notorious for a whistle- mostly on 70MM

That is a little high pitched for a tb whistle, but that's still where I would start.

Def a whistle. It's quiet at first idle. Once I goose it, it builds enough vacuum to get louder. Then stays loud. It certainly has a sucking air cadence to it.

Checked them. Reseated them just in case. Keep the ideas coming though. I'm grateful for them

I see the tube coming off the throttle body that would normally connect to the oil fill tube... where is it connected?

It runs under the intake runners into the oil fill cap.

Lesson learned. When you are supposed to recheck bolts after x number of miles....do it. I had some bolts in the very back that weren't as right as they should have been. I think it was pulling air over the gasket like a blade of grass between your thumbs. Just because you do it by the book when building something, make sure you do the easy stuff after the fact.
