Just wondering what would make the car whine/whistle from the front end...Somedays its louder other days its not as loud. Also it only happens when i am moving and not sitting still or revving the car. Most of the time i hear it isnt when im accelerating but when I am just coasting....I dont know if i just cant hear it over the exhaust.

Thanks,
Dan

My tranny gears whine when I accelerate. Apparently its common with T5's. Its done that since I bought the car and the previous owner said its always done that. I beat the living ***t out of the car every chance I get (as most of us do I am sure) and nothing broke yet, and the sound never got better or worse.
I'm thinking of switching to synthetic ATF for it to see if it'll quiet it down a bit. People have asked me if its got a supercharger....

you might have a loose vacuum tube somewhere. also, some aftermarket throttle bodies tend to whistle

Is it the same with the windows cracked? Frameless doors often allow a whistle [esp when weatherstripping ages] which changes with window opening amounts.

Is there a smurf stuck under the car?

Turbonator spooling up?

Ok, the window thing was my only question/point.

Good luck.

maybe this is too obvious but could it be your air intake? my CAI sounds like a blow off valve.

The pcv was on a slight angle but i put it in again and it started making the same noise...i check all vacuums and i dont see it being a vacuum leak....what would a harmonic balancer sound like if it was going? Im just trying to think of things i havent replaced.

It wound up being loud tonight...and the temp over here was perfect like mid 40s up to 50s no humidity. If weather could help determine it

It was happening before the side skirt incident...It is hard for to find out what it is since it is only when im driving and not when im sitting still. I know it is from the middle of the car foward. I was thinking maybe something with my exhaust now so i have to take a peek underneath the car.
