white wire on alternator

if my alternator has a built in voltage regulator do i need to hook this white wire up. i bought the connector for it and pluged it in. could this be making my car stall out on me. what is the white wire for. it a alterstart chrome 160 amp alt.

The white wire should loop from the white wire on the D shaped harness pluged in the 3G alt to the stator plug in the 3G alternator.
