Not deployed now. Spent time in Honduras, Panama, Saudia, Croatia (UN), Hungary, Bosnia Herzogovina, Turkey, Djibouti, and last but not least Iraq. It sure is good to be retired from the Air Force.
Where is home for you? If you need anything and I can help let me know.

In relation to your thread, did anyone see the show on Discovery about the green berets deployed in Afganistan? I saw it last night and it was amazing.

I think you've got that almost backwards. It's 1.25 years over here for every year back home. I'm not complaining too much, though. Afterall I don't have it like they did back in the World Wars, Korea, or Vietnam. This is a police action, not a war. Also, we're not deployed for years at a time like they were, and internet and phones help to close the gap between here and home a little.

slightly off topic, but what do you guys personally think about this war?
i have nothing but the utmost respect towards the people that are fighting in it. as a canadian, i'm just curious if you think the USA is (or was) doing the right thing over there?

Been a few years since I was in Iraq but I work with folks going in and out all the time. Sentiments mostly still the same. The regular people I spoke with and worked with over there were good people and appreciated our help. The press only shows the negative stuff for sure. PM me your email address if you would like me to send you a short but interesting power point on the subject.

Thanks for doing what needs to be done guys!!!

I played in the big sand box in 90-91.. Lived out in the desert for my tour until we stayed at Kobar Arms for the last few days before returning to the USA. Couldn't tell you where I was, all I know there was sand everywhere!!! And once in awhile we would roll through a town just to see the destruction that was done. Then back into the sand, and fire more rounds..

God speed for all you soilders!!!

We're heading over in 09' to Iraq, waiting to get the warning order. Hopefully, I'll be over before I get my last bonus, so it's tax free.

I'd rather be fighting the terrorists/Islamic extremists/nutjobs in their backyard than in my own backyard any day of the week. Conspiracy theories aside, you cannot claim that we have done more harm than good.

As long as we're going slightly off topic, I'm sick and tired of civilians (though I hate to use that term) claim that this war is not worth it and that we've lost too many troops. We lost more men in a single day of fighting during WWII than we have since this war began six years ago (if you group OEF/OIF). How about you let the military decide if the cost is too high since we're the ones doing the dying?

Respect to all the men and women fighting on our behalf, wherever they may be deployed. Canada may not be in Iraq but we're doing our part in Afghanistan and we're behind our troops 100%. Political bull aside, the guy on the battlefield representing me and fighting for my freedom always gets my deepest level of respect and is deserving of the highest honours IMO. Who risks more than him? Watch your butts out there guys and come back home to tell about it and I might just be the guy at the next set of lights giving you the thumbs up.
