Who has advanced their timing?

My dad plans to advance the timing on my 94 5.0 i was wondering who has done that before, how much they advanced it, and how much power they got from doing so. thanks

most people have done it here. some peopel can get away with only 2* of timing or you can be like me and have 18* with no pinging. general area you want to be is about 14* tho. any higher and its kinda a waste. be prepared to use a higher octane possibly

raise it to 14* and make sure you unse premium gas.

Just about everyone sets theirs to 14*

I'd be interested to know if anyone has ever dynoed the difference bumping the timing makes but i've never seen any exact numbers on it.

I have a book by Richard Holdener and he ran thousands of dyno tests on the 5.0L from very stock to very wild.

I think it netted close, but under 10rwhp. But it's free, so if you can get to 14* w/o pinging then leave it there.

It's funny how much icing the intake manifold helps as well!

can anyone post the steps to do this i have a timing light but i was woried to do it for along time maybe you guys can put my fear to rest oh and i already run 93 octaine if that helps
