I got my 02 GT with a set of JBA shorties already on the car. They cracked so I replaced them with a set of FRPP coated shorties. Had a guy install the first time with the frpp gaskets. With in a week they were leaking. Few months later I did the job myself. Dropped the K member, installed copper gaskets and locking bolts. Guess what, week later started leaking. I'm tired of these ****ing leaks. It's not like I can give em a quick tighten a week after the install since i'm dropping the k. Does anybody on here have any suggestions so I can get these damn things sealed? I heard good things about the percy aluminum gaskets. What do you guys think?

The factory FORD gaskets are the best gaskets for a header job because they last forever. My shop uses only those for all manifold mods, or replacement. Also, we use a 3/8" impact and the factory studs and nuts. The aftermarket bolts are garbage. They back out and you can overtighten them without knowing and pull the threads.

I have a set of JBA heders and they are great, no leaks what so ever. Are you tighting the blots after letting the car run for 10-15 mins? Thats what we did, start the car up and let it run or drive it for 10 mis or so. Then go back and tighten all the bolsts you get to. I've had them for 5 months now.

My BBK don't leak. But gasket does.
I'll have to get my butt in gear and install some real gasket sometime soon.

I just hate the idea of doing that whole process again...

Ford OEM gaskets FTMFW. I have heard of people applying a small amount of red RTV to both sides of the gaskets as well. I have never tried it though

I hear ya man, it almost makes it worth it to buy something else, like a tubular k member while doing the gaskets. That way you get a little more out of your labor!

that was what i was thinking.

But if I'm gonna get Tubeler K member, then I might as well get Tube A arm, and if I'm gonna do that, then might as well do coil over and get it done the first time.

Suddenly, $30 gasket become almost $1000 in parts alone.......

Copper rtv is good for sealing exhaust. I have reused clean intact gaskets on my 5 liter with copper rtv. I agree with the others try to tighten them up again. If that doesn't work pull the gaskets out and use some rtv on them.
