I replaced my clutch at 102K miles and it had another 30K miles left on it. I made about 40 passes down the 1/4 mile too. I replaced it because my TOB was messed up.

Be sure you replace the pivot ball and arm where the clutch cable attaches to ($40 for both at dealer). My pivot ball had a pretty big pit in it.

You also need a clutch alignment tool.

almost forgot... if you have a stock exhaust still, have fun trying to get that off, and the third bolt for the starter is even worse with that big cat in the way. my third bolt and stock exhaust have been mysteriously missing for quite some time now.... it made the whole thing so much easier....

the exhaust is alot more fun trying to get off then the starter tho, let me tell ya... useing a torch on the driver side nuts aint too bad, but try to figure something out for the passenger instead first tho. if you must use the fire tho, hopefully you'll have a small tip, and are good with not setting stuff on fire. your heater box comes out right there, along with some vaccuume lines, and they do melt fast. if you have to use this approach, just be careful. it is doable tho, i did it.

worse the the box and lines tho, really watch for the fuel lines that are about 6 inches higher up then the box too. it is kinda scary. that would be the only reason i would reccomend a shop tho.

Here is a writeup I did for replacing a clutch in the 5.0L's...same basic principle. You all have more flywheel bolts to undo though..............Follow proper break-in procedure by being easy on the car for the first 400-500 miles to properly seat everything.

your '04 uses an 11" clutch btw, so the King Cobra won't fit . . .

Yep, the pressure plate bolt holes won't configure with the flywheel bolt-holes for the PP bolts...
