Who has TrueTrac? Please give opinions!

I like mine!

I need to qualify this a bit first though. I have it in an 8.8 that I've put in my '66 with 3.55 gears. What I don't have is any HP (straight 6), what I do have is suspension that will easily push a 0.99 lateral G, and some very rough canyon roads.
So, I can tell you it works exceptionally well for carving the back roads even when the pavement is so rough the car drifts. I did a little off road "rally style" and it was awesome.
I have read that the early versions had an issue with the end cap bolts. I have not read or heard any complaints with the later style.
This thing is built like a brick. I've got some pictures of the build on the web site in my signature.

BTW: I'm looking for a '90-'93 GT 5spd as a donor car, so if you know someone in the S.F. bay area with a runner (crashed, or salvage title is OK) let me know.

I haven't had any problems out of my True Trac. It works really well. I haven't had a chance to get the car out much since I put it in because of some other issues, but I noticed a considerable difference than my old Traction Lock. The 3.73's probably helped as well.

I have it in my 66 behind a 475FWHP 347ci. Currie 9" rear end, 3.70's, 31 spline axles. I have had it for four years and it has perfect manners on the street and has held strong to well over 100 passes on slicks at the track.

I just got a trans brake and it hits that rear end really hard now, no worries, highly recommend.

When I do a gear swap this winter to 4.11 ratio, it will be the first time the third member has been out.

You sure your talking about the True-Trac and the Detroit Locker? Not doubting you, just making sure. I wonder if the Tru-Trac for the 9" is stronger than the 8.8"?

Either way i've never heard of someone hurting one, I plan on getting one when my stock posi blows up behind 450rwhp and slicks.

I always thought a Detroit Locker would be fun but the price tag always stopped me from doing it. Last time I checked they were like 530.00. I run a spool in my '84 and I rebuilt the Traction lok in my '87 two years ago. I used the alternating clutch method and an F-150 S-spring. It's still tight as hell. Holding up great. What are you guys doing to burn them up so quick?

I'm sure, I custom ordered the rear end from Currie and I'm sure that anything in a 9" is going to be stronger than an 8.8".

Let me start by saying, you CANNOT get a better lsd than a Truetrac. It is a copy of the legendary Torsen lsd. It is gear driven so there are no clutches to toast etc.

They also make them for 4wd's and I fitted them front and rear on my Cobra powered 4Runner and they were awesome. Road manners are exceptional.

But being a 4wd I always wanted a full locker such as the ARB air locker but being open centre for the road use meant they were useless with a V8 etc.

Then I heard Tractech were developing an Electrac which is a Truetrac that can also be fulling locked electrically. Problem was they were not available for the Toyota diff only Dana's.

I liked the Truetrac lsd on the road so much I have since built a special Toyota diff housing that uses a Dana44 specifically so I could get the Electrac.

Its now been in for several years and I still have the awesome Truetrac LSD but can now fully lock it etc. The electrac is the BEST combo ever built for a 4wd, period.

Get a Truetrac, you will NOT be disappointed

I typically take this kind of propaganda with a grain of salt, but just for the sake of argument: what's your (everyone's) opinion of the Aubern Pro add with the graph showing their lsd putting more power to the ground than a bunch of other brands (including the Detroit TT, and by a considerable %). Just curious.

which is the best differential for road racing?? and doing 90 degree turns at 45mph?
