Who here actually NEEDS bigger brakes

And come on, the KB comparo is retarded! It adds weight, but it also gives you 150HP LOL. His point was obviouly the heavy breaks will slow the car down (both when on or off the breaks)...KB doesnt slow the car down. Unless you like that auto cross stuff
not everyone likes to drag race

Screw brakes! I have NEVER had a problem with mine fading, even ran to 148 before (long time ago...dont hate) and wailed on the breaks pretty good. Not a problem, slowed to 55 DARN fast. My breaks are staying stock for a long time, I see no need for better ones.....now my 66 is a different story :nonono: they fade pretty bad at high speed.

Right you did this once... Try doing it about 10 times in a row and see how well it stops. Stock brakes do a decent job stopping once, but I want to stop shorter and stop numerous times...

All 96-98 GT's could greatly benefit from upgraded braking
I agree completely!!!!
96-98gt's are garbage set ups. The single piston fronts are really bad. The 99up fronts are far better with the 2 piston calipers. If thats what mine came with i would just upgrade the pads/lines. Going to the 13" on my car was a HUGE improvement. I don't see it being as big a difference on a newer GT unless you do alot of heavy breaking.

Now that I have the Cobra brakes on my car I would say everyone should upgrade if they can. The difference is night and day between the 13 inchers and the stock GT brakes. The car seems to slow down a lot faster with less pedal travel. You barely have to press the brake at all to get noticeable stopping. And, if you really get on them they seem to stop the car in 2/3rds the distance the stockers took. Also, in day to day driving I havent noticed any fade at all. These brakes instill a lot more confidence. By the way I have braided lines on the front, and drilled and slotted rotors on the front and back.

i could use some bigger brakes to slow me down quicker after the 1/4mi. the stock brakes really suck over 110mph.
OK ...there it is. You cross the finish line, hit the brakes & the car slows down/stops without hesitating. Big brakes are also good for panic stops(animals run out on the road). They STOP & have great appearance. Needed? Not really. Safer-you bet

Why the heck would I want to do that 10 times?!?!?!? :rlaugh: "hmmm, I think im going to go from 65-150-65 10 times in a row, just for the heck of it:nice: "

Sure if you tail gating...keep the proper distance and you wont have a problem. Austin traffic isnt exactly "light", iv also driven in the 5AM and + traffic in atlanta GA...No problems. But hey, if you guys want to drop a few Gs in your breaks, thats fine...ill use that money for more POWA!

Hard right hander, long straight, hard left hander, another straight......do that a couple of more times on lap one, then repeat 20 more times........especially if you do have some power

Don't you go sometimes go out with a couple other Mustangs for a "drive" in the backroads, where it's windy and has corners? Or sometimes sneak into a Formula One race track with your car to have some fun?

Lots of corners requires repetive braking, thus requiring brakes that brake better and have less fade.

Im just an "acceleration" guy...thats about all i care about, the pull back in the seat. I dont go around corners like a mad man, im very easy on my break...dont use them unless I have to and apply...release....apply durring a stop to try and keep them cool. I hate stopping fast down hill just because I dont want the wear on my pads. Im pretty consious about that, so i doubt I would ever push them to fading. But apparently others arent so easy on their breaks

The point is you don't have to spend a few grand though. You can pick up a Cobra 13" front brake upgrade w/ SS Brake Lines for $399.99 and the rears are even cheaper than that. Its alot safer if you like to get on it alot. I wanna be able to know that i can stop if i run the car up to a high speed
