Who here has rebuilt their own Trac-Lok? Or has had someone do it

I just help a friend rebuild his, and It was a piece of cake(for the most part). Just remove the s spring, all the spider gears, replace the shims and clutches(follow the instructions), put it all back together. Putting in that s spring was more then a PITA. It took us forever to get it back in. Other then that, no problems. :nice:

so there is nothing you can REALLY screw up that would make it freeze up or something like that right? i was thinking that it wouldnt be that hard. by chance did anyone install gears while they were in there? im curious about all the backlash numbers and stuff, do you have to worry about all that?

we threw gears in it too and didn't do any backlash checking. just got a new crush sleeve for pinion and threw it all back together. Not that this is the correct way but his works perfect, no whining howling or any weird noises

I don't think you have much to worry about. Everything should go togeather tight and snug, and it's pretty easy. There is a better way to pack the clutches so you use one extra clutch on each side, using the two best clutches out of the set. Clutch = C Plate = P Shim = S

CPPCPPCS = Factory
CPCPCPCS = Modified This is the way I did mine, works real nice.
