You should be shot.(joke)

All i have to say is history repeats itself. So will the Camaro(get it?). Sure it has a bigger engine and more hp/tq. To some it could even have a better interior and ride quality. But the fact of the matter is, they are not cheap like a Mustang and they aren't expensive like a Corvette. Their inbetween, and their isn't a very big market for that.

The majority of teenagers and people under 30-40 will buy a Mustang. Its cheap, its fast, its nice. It also has 4 seats for friends/kids/family.

People over 40 will buy a Corvette. Its a two seater, powerful, nice looking. They don't need a 4 seater anymore because all he has to haul around is his wife, the kids are gone. Don't you wonder why when you see Corvettes on the road that 9 out of 10 of them have automatics? Its because the old men that own them no longer like to drive manuals. Plus alot of the older people that have corvettes buy them when they are older simply becuase they can afford them, and they couldn't in their younger years.

The Mustang is still here today simply becuase it is exactly what Ford builds it to be. An AFFORADABLE sports car. Its built for a purpose, and its serves that purpose very well i might add.

For those of you saying they want to pump up the hp/engine on the GT and redesign the interior with better quality materials, forget it. Thats what they make the GT500 for and other Special addition models. So for you guys that want Ford to make the Base model GT better then the Camaro, unless you want the Mustang to go belly up like its competitors(Camaro for example) i think you should rethink your idea of the Mustang GT.

If it isn't fast enough for you(Mustang GT) then modify it. Who cares if you have to modify a stock GT to beat a stock Camaro. Everybody modifys their car, its part of owning one. Plus, the Mustang has the largest aftermarket support of any car. So parts aren't hard to come by. And for most, the Mustang parts are cheap compared to other Cars. So be thankful.

Another thing that i really like is people comparing the Mustang to the Corvette. Yes, you can add cubic inches and install a blower and it will be just as fast(Not a proven fact, just trying to get a point across) as a Corvette. But as i sad above, they are 2 different cars built for different purposes. You should not compare the 2.

Edit: Now i could be wrong on somethings, but this is just things i've noticed over the years. Lets hear your input!

For starters, what proof do you have that they're trailing behind? Until you see a production Camaro with the power that they're claiming, don't believe everything you read. Plus wait until you see the price tag that comes along with it...you may as well buy a GT500 and at least get exclusivity along with it.

Secondly, Ford doesn't concern themselves with being the manufacturer with the fastest ponycar...that's why the Mustang is still here and the Camaro is being resurrected. The Mustang is not and never was meant to be the end all be all sports car.

Lastly, don't count out Ford just yet. The new car is on its way along with the next Boss and likely Mach 1, both of which i bet will be sporting at least 400 n/a horsepower (but will likely be just as expensive as the Camaro will be).

Obviously the noob here didn't see that there is ALREADY a current thread comparing the new Camaro to the Mustang. So I wouldn't waste too much time repeating what's already BEING talked about....just a block away.

P.S. Chevrolet is HURTING for car sales right now. Why don't you go help them out and purchase one of there new Camaros?

I don't point this out to be picky or nasty, but hopefully to be helpful. If you're ever going to write anything that needs to be taken seriously someday, you'll need to know this:

There = a location
Their = belonging to them
They're = They are

I tried to read the rest of the post, but I couldn't get past the two typos at the end of the first paragraph. Yes, I'm being really picky, but there are enough people out there like me to make things difficult for you. Learn the differences between these words and you'll be better off.

Your sentence should read like this: "They're inbetween, and there isn't a very big market for that."

(God help me when someone finds a typo in this post)

I'm kinda mad about it, but I still will never drive a Camaro made after 1969, I will always be a Mustang guy. I will keep supporting the Mustang.

I agree, I only like 67-69 Camaros and maybe a 70-71. Other than that I think Camaros are junk. Dont get me wrong, the LS engine platform is a sick engine and they do make sick power but I just think they sound like garbage. A windsor motor is always gonna sound better to me.

I've got nothing against GM or Camaros. They do things that i don't like just like Ford does. The problem Chevy has is they can't make a truly badass Camaro because it'll come close to the base Vette performance and likely the base Vette price. Ford doesn't have that problem, instead they have a whole history of having awesome engines they could put in Mustangs and likely conquer the Vette and the Viper (like the Boss V10 car they built) but instead they stick with what's affordable. That might suck for the performance enthusiast, but that's what has kept the Mustang around for 40+ years while every other musclecar and ponycar died out. If it wasn't for the Mustang there wouldn't be a new Challenger or a new Camaro.

What I have found, as a general rule, Ford's have more potential in them for performance. In other words, the engine has a lot of room for performance improvement in it stock, while the GM and Dodge engines tend to be built more to their peak performance stock. ( I am talking street engines, NOT race engines). Can you take a Charger or a Corvette and triple the H.P output with out taking the V/C's off like you can a 03/04 Cobra or a GT, (not Mustang GT)or a GT500? And do it for the same $. Not likely. It helps that the aftermarket has the parts to support such modifications. How many parts are available for the new Hemi? How many for the Corvette? Not near as many as for the stang. Now if the stang had 500 h.p. stock like the Z06, I suppose you would not need all of those parts, but then again most of us could not afford the Z06. At least I cannot. I can afford a 03/04 Cobra, and my oh my, what bang for the buck!

Eh, I'd trade a new S197 for my dad's old '68 Z28 any day. That is until the day comes that I can have both.
