With mach 1 shocks/struts? Many mechanics have looked at my front suspension and cannot find anything that would be making the clunk noise except where the shock is contacting the plate, it may have some play in it. Anyone else have this noise with these plates?
Guys I had the Steeda 3 bolts plates installed and every time you hit a bump in the road "CLUNK". I checked my installation several times and could not find anything wrong. I got tired of hearing this clunk all the time so I went back to the stock setup. Alignment is still within the limits that Steeda recommended with their plates and no more clunk. I've heard the MM CC Plates are the best but have not tried them.
Yeah my guess is either the bolt on the top of the strut loose or the spherical bearing. either way, its really annoying and i might swap them out for the MM plates unless i can fix it

I was about to purchase the Steeda 4 bolt CC plates....now im not so sure. I nees some type of plate...my camber is too far negative. Anyone else have any plates that they recommend?
Here are my MM plates, I havent noticed any clucking with mine, I did read alot the MM CC plates making the same clunking. You have to really really make sure that you top strut nut..the big is really tight. NOT snug...tight.
With mine I put an open end 7/8 wrench on the big nut and use a medium sized adjustable wrench to hold the strut shaft from spining. I routinely check them for tightness, I also routinely check the torque on all the smaller nut..every oil change 30 ft lbs is enough.

I have tried everything and I cannot figure this out. I had stock caster/cambers on with this noise... So I got some aftermarket ones (MM) thinking it would make the sound go away... Nope still there. My spacers are on correctly... the strut top is as close to the hood as possible with out hitting. The top strut nut is torqued good... so good in fact I #ucked up the top of my strut threads from the lock pliars. There is no movement at all from the bearings, and the spacers are solid tight from below and above. I also decided last night to see if all the bolts where tight... so I torqued the K-member, sway bar brackets, links, strut to spindle and lower control arms. Still nothing... still makes that same noise.
I did notice that if you adjust the strut to the softest setting the noise is less noticeable, but I would really like the tires to grip the road good... not float.
