i have an 88 hatch lx and its got quite a case of "cancer" and is attacking my body. i was planning on keeping it an lx and restoring the exterior, but i got some parts pretty cheap ($220)for being in such good condition so i guess ill just go ahead w/ a GT Convesion. i just bought:

hatch off of 83 capri (primered, minor surface rust)
gt sideskirts (good cond. no cracks or peeling)
both gt doors w/ moldings (no rust, dents and comes w/ glass, power mirrors, power locks and windows)
both gt front fenders w/ moldings (great cond, no dents or rust of any kind)
dashboard assembly (10 x's better then what i got know)
center e-brake console (good cond)

1. will all of these will fit?
2. i heard that the skirts changed like in 90 or something. im not sure what year they are off of, but is there any measurment i can take to find out if it will work??
3. right now i have crank windows but the doors i got are for power windows, the guy said that my car will have connectors in the door and will hook right up. true??
4. is there any like tech page that will walk me through this??

btw, the doors, fenders, and skirts came off of a popular DJ named To Kool Chris's mustang and have been sitting in a garage for like a couple years.

Thanks

damn, 220, good deal. I paid 800 Canadian(so 6 billion US) for just a gt package and a hatch.

I believe they do have a harnes for the power windows wired in. If they don't it would not be too hard of a job to run the wires yourself. The skirts, I don't know if they changed from 90 on but I know you will need the mountin brackets inorder to install them. They are thing strips of metal you rivet to the rocker panel.

I am wondering how much GT doors go for. I converted my 89 coupe to a gt, but my doors are shot. I figure I might as well just buy gt doors instead of fixing these ones and installing the gt moulding.

1.Yes
2.I think they started making the fenders wider in 91 to accommodate the larger diameter of the pony wheels, as a result the skirt between the wheel well and the bumper cover will be smaller.
3.I think the wires are there, it's been a quick minute since I did it. Manufactures usually don't change harness for certain options. Easy way to find out is to check inside the doors for a harness wraped up or laying around.

im tryin to get some pics, but i was wonderin how i could identify what year the parts are.

btw, hes sellin a badass set of polished centerline rims in awesome condition w/ almost new tires (225-50-15 and BFG's i think) for only $300. they are a 4 lug pattern for the stang. they look like these. if anybody wants them, i could hook them up w/ them for $300.

If you wanted to keep your car an lx, all you would have to do is keep your lx front clip, take all the GFX off your new parts and put your LX moldings on the new parts. I like the cleaner look of an LX myself.

you will need the side skirt hangers. Metal brackets that goes on the rocker panel below the doors they need to be riveted in.

50resto.com has them for $17 each with rivets

There are also 2 smaller ones that go under the rear of the sideskirt. I do not know where you will be able to find these.

Darn shame you aren't in Florida.
I just stripped out a '90 LX hatch and have doors, hood, fenders, and hatch all in rust free FL shape. All for $200, you pick up. All I wanted was the front cover which I am using on my '93. Got 2 more doors and an LX rear cover off of an 87 coupe too. Lots of decent interior parts too. :nice:
The 91-93 fenders will fit, just use them in pairs so it looks right. :)

so if i use them in pairs they will look ok??? how??? i still dont get what it means for the fenders to be wider. does that mean that no they will stick out more than the doors and the rest of the car?? anyone here ever converted from crank windows to power??

No the fenders won't be wider. The wheel wells will be slightly bigger in width. To tell you the truth i don't think you will notice the diffrence by looking at them. The only reason they were made is so the 16" ponys would clear without rubbing.

well i bought a set of pony rims for $100 anyways and the fenders come w/ the wheel wells. so will the wells bolt up?? aside from that, the hood doesnt line up cuz there is a large gap on one side and not much gap on the opposite side where the fenders meet the hood. also, looking at the top of the passenger door, there is a bigger gap towards where the front top corner of the door meets the roof than where the rear top corner meets the roof. the front frame rails look shot and chewed through. i took it to 2 body shops and they said they really didnt wanna work on it. how hard is is to replace them? is it worth it??

well, i cleaned up the doors and am deciding between having somebody paint them or doing them myself. right now, it is like a baby blue door, but need it black. how should i go about preping it and painting it??? also, the new door has power windows and my car is made for crank windows. can i splice the wiring from my new door into the door lock wiring??

thanks
