Who makes the t45 transmission? Is it tremec? I was just under my car for the first time and saw the tranny was a tremec but my car is an 00gt is there a way to identify which one it is exactly? It would be sweet if the previous owner put in a good tranny and didnt tell me!

up till late 1997 it was Borg-Warner then in late 1997 they (B/W) sold the design to Tremec, I dont think Tremec actually made the trans as much as they just re-badged B/W's name to Tremec on the trans case

Like Randy stated, Tremec bought out the manual transmission division of borg warner so it is most likely still a t-45. The t-45 is still a good tranny, but you HAVE to have a good shifter with positive stops or you'll be breaking stuf if you try to speed shift it.

I believe the T-45 doesn't have them but the TR-3650 does.

If its an 00 its the T-45. The T-3650's got put in mid-2001.

I used the shift stops with my MGW. Its not hard to set them, cheap insurance if the T-45's really dont have internal stops.

Isn't the t-5 the same tranny but with internal stops? I have an 01 GT and I know it's not the 3650, I have the t-5, right? Or do I have the t-45?

depends on your build date. I show T-45's used in Mustangs till @sept 2000 then the 3650's took over, some may have gotten left-over T-45's in late 2000 or early 2001 but I doubt it. there should also be an "ID" tag on your trans to help in id'ing it, and T-5's were only used in V6 cars in the SN95 platform

T-5's left V8 Mustangs in 1995 with the last of the 5.0's. Like Randy said, only T-5's in our body style are V-6's.

As I understand it, the T-45 is a beefed up T-5. Thats why T-5/T-45's use the same aftermarket shifters and whatnot.
