I'll repeat my earlier statement. You are always a winner in a Mustang. What's the good in winning if you are in an ugly car.

The answer to your sig is a resounding no! I understand that people like different makes and models of cars, and to each their own. However, I must ask, why are you moderating this forum? If you want to extoll the virtues of a GTO, do it on a Pontiac forum. I'm not going to resort to calling you or your car names; that's not cool. But its also not cool for you to moderate this forum, which in case you haven't noticed, is a Mustang forum, and constantly try to sell us Mustang enthusiasts on why your GTO is inherently superior. What gives?

Foul...What does it matter what he owns. I don't own a GTO but do own a Z06-Mustang-Buick-Range-Geo-RV. So because I don't just own a Mustang or only like Mustangs I should not post. Response to these forums is what gives something to talk about other than how sad the '05+ cars are on quality build and performance. LOL.. It spices things up because the same question is asked every day with 108k+ members and it would get boring.

Well my little auto equipped GT ran a 13.26@100mph a few weeks ago. Only mods being a JLT/Xcal2 combo and drag radials. Should be a close race.

Hey it was my first time at the track with this car. It is completely stock. I babied the car and went a measly 9.11 at 78 mph. I made three passes. That was the quickest. I know it's slow but I'm simply saying that the GTO that I ran was a turd. Do you understand? A TURD! It didn't even get into the 9's. A $35,000 POS!

I don't have to prove a damn thing to you. I know what happened and so does everyone else at the track. My friends were laughing at that guy.

Foul? I agree that it doesn't matter what he owns; as I stated, to each his own. I didn't call names or act abusively towards him in any way. Nor did I say that since he doesn't own a Mustang he shouldn't be able to post here.
However, if you read my post, the point I was making is that every post I have seen by Doc GTO is trying to convince Mustang enthusiasts why his GTO is far superior. I'm not saying he doesn't have a right to say anything he wants. This is still a free country last time I checked, and I am not aware of any rules on this forum that would prevent him from constantly expressing his view that the GTO is vastly superior to the Mustang. My issue is why. Why would you want to spend your time trying to belittle everyone else's vehicle on a forum that is specifically designed for fans of that vehicle? You apparently own a Mustang, but it sounds like you would be well served to sell yours while used prices are still high if you think its such a POS.

This is a Mustang forum and I understand all the statements made about that. Simple fact is a GTO guy is a moderator on thise forum. I have been bashed in the past for questioning that.
I guess we will have to just get over that.
It's still confusing to me. Im not going to bash GTOs on a GTO site and promote Mustangs. It seems reasonable to expect the same turnabout courtesy here. I'm sure I will be bashed for that statement.

It's good to see someone understands my point. It's not like I have anything personal against the guy, I just can't for the life of me understand why you'd have nothing better to do than moderate a Mustang forum and constantly argue about how much better GTO's are.

I'm glad someone else gets it too. This is a Mustang forum and it should be Mustang, not GTO, friendly. Otherwise we are going to go elsewhere.
At least he's not a Chevy guy.

These are my observations at the track FWIW.

A 05-06 GTO beats 05+ Mustang GTs more often than the other way around. I'd say maybe 60% of the time the GTO wins, and 40% the Mustang wins.

Whenever I see a slow GTO (i.e. a GTO that runs high 13s low 14s) it is nearly always because they can't launch their car well, or because they get too medieval on the throttle and spin through first and second.

So, I think the LS2 GTO is on average faster than the S197 Mustang GT based on my observations at my track. That and the GTO also has a better HP/weight ratio and TQ/weight ratio. It doesn't mean I want one, I love my car, but I have no problem accepting what cars probably will or will not beat me at the track.

That said, I think people underestimate the term "drivers race." I have seen some ugly times by cars that should have been much much faster. I've beaten a few cars that I never should have beaten with my meager modifications. So in the end it still is a drivers race, but the GTO ought to win with equal drivers.

Besides the GTO is dead now, we should be looking down the road at Challengers and Camaros.

EDIT: But to answer the original question. I think the modded mustang has a good chance of taking the STOCK AUTO GTO, especially since Bamachips is good at tuning automatics. Just nail that launch!

I have to say something here (even though it has been locked already).

I chose Doc GTO as the forum moderator for his technical savvy and his level head.

I challenge any one of you to show me a real instance where Doc GTO said something negative about the Mustang and attempted to promote (besides tell you how fast he is at the track) the GTO.

If any one of you can show me a post of his that is honestly either of the above, he and I will discuss it as it should be. Otherwise, go run your flag up someone else's pole.

Besides, I have yet to see any of you who complain about a GTO guy being a mod here that could do it half as well.

I stand behind my choise as a moderator and that is that.

Stop pissing and moaning and prove your claims.

Very impressive for what little mods you have. The tranny sounds like it shifts lightning fast! A few more things and 12s are a breeze.

Just to let you know, I don't need proof, I'm just curious about the times ran, 60ft, R/T, ect. I'm a racer . . . I want to see what went down on that run - simple as that! Don't get a sore over the fact that I drive a foreign car or that I'm an almighty, powerful, moderator that could make you dissapear like the mafia

J/K - Get over the fact that I drive a GTO. My tow vehicle for years was a Powerstroke F250 (modded, of course) and I wouldn't own any other heavy duty truck out there!

If you have anymore problems you can take it up with tylers65!

Thanks for the kind words tyler!
