Here's your answer. More expensive than paint, but looks so much better and works so much better.

They wanted somewhere around $200 to do my LTs on my '65.

I used a 2000* header paint from the local racing parts store. I sanded them to bare metal with an emery cloth then ran over them with acetone. Next I used the 2000* primer for 2 coats followed by 3 coats of 2000* paint. Hasn't discolored flake chipped or nothing and this is a dialy driver. Pain cost about $40 for the primer and color.

damn that MAC paint was a pain to get off.

heres some pics. it was about to rain before i took the pics so i'm sure it would look better in the sun light. looks good tho and i'm happy with them so far.

i'm going to let them dry up for a week then install them this coming friday

Looks pretty good man same color as my H pipe. I took mine off yesterday and the paint was fine but I put another coat on just for the heck of it.

I painted my headers with Eastwood satin stainless header paint. So far, after 1 year and about 8000 miles it is still perfect. One nice thing about this paint is that oil or grease burns off without leaving discoloration. However, the headers must be absolutly clean before the paint is applied.

68 MGB, do you have a pic of that paint? I've heard good things about it but I can't find a pic anywhere.
