I used a 2000* header paint from the local racing parts store. I sanded them to bare metal with an emery cloth then ran over them with acetone. Next I used the 2000* primer for 2 coats followed by 3 coats of 2000* paint. Hasn't discolored flake chipped or nothing and this is a dialy driver. Pain cost about $40 for the primer and color.

I painted my headers with Eastwood satin stainless header paint. So far, after 1 year and about 8000 miles it is still perfect. One nice thing about this paint is that oil or grease burns off without leaving discoloration. However, the headers must be absolutly clean before the paint is applied.
