I know I have a 92 not a 94/95 but I know theres a few guys in here with strokers so I figure i'd ask ;)

I know its not ideal, but I might run unported TW's on my stroker when I do it. I'd like to see what kinda numbers guys are getting out of them? Dyno and track. My combo (when/if this ever happens) will be a 342 built by our very own Rick91GT with around 10.5-11:1 compression, TW heads, TFS R intake, Jay Allen custom cam, 30's, 75mm TB, 1 3/4" LT's and about 3200lb race weight with a TKO. Lemme know!

At one time we had a 95 with a stock shortblock and stock TW heads that ran 12.1's @ 111 mph on DR's. I think it went 112 on one pass. Anyway, that car used a Holley intake, 75mm TB and BBK 1 5/8 longtubes with the same cam that I used in my 95 (I loaned it to him so I'm certain it's the same).

The next year we put a 347 together for it that had 10:1 comp but used all the same parts on it except the cam. The 347 used a cam very similiar to the other except was 6° larger on both the intake and exhaust. The 347 ran 11.6's @ 116+ still on DR's. The shift point dropped from 6400 to 6-6100 rpm with the 347 even with the larger cam.

That car wasn't all that light...I think it ran about 3400-3450 race weight.

What happened with the vortech bro? I see its for sale already.
He's very indecisive. :D

Mike - those TW heads would do fine. Maybe get a nice set of valves in 'em and a good valve job if money permits....?

Also, don't go 331. That's like using a 65mm TB. ;)

Guess so. hehe

Not trying to hijack...but... I am contemplating a sportsman based 347 with forged internals. I have afr 165's and a p1sc blower. Would I be alright running this combo, or are the heads too small? Only reason I ask is the 165's are somewhat similar to Grn's stock TW's. And I have only had the heads 8 months so selling them would be a loss.

A 331 never crossed my thoughts. I just figured i'd get more responses asking about both strokers :D Most likely its gonna be a stock bore 342.

TMC, i'll be using a bigger manifold, more compression, bigger header and a different cam. I would LOVE to see 120mph with unported heads. I'm also 200lbs lighter. Were there any tricks in the shortblock or just basic parts?

Sleepy- with what your planning your gonna want to step up on the block or use the weaker block and tune it safer and keep it under 5500 IMO to be safe.

As for my vortech it pissed me off so I pulled it :) The final straw was getting an accessory belt to fit. I could NOT get one to work since I have a non A/C car. I would have needed a larger PS and smaller water pump pulleys. Those of you that have seen how blower cars mount the stock belt tensioner will understand what I mean. With the belts I tried once I put the tensioner on it, it made the belt hit the water pump pulley.

Yes you would definitely see a gain from going to 185 heads. Most people run them on their N/A 347s. I would go with 185 or Trickflow Highports... Depending on your budget. I will tell you now, the Highports are one of my personal favorite heads and are really race proven.

That sucks the blower gave you trouble Mike. But I'm sure the new combo will kick ass. :nice:

Yeah, I think I'll probably stick with the stock block for now. And keep the revs down like you said. Being a small blower it makes decent low rpm power (for a centrifugal that is). I should probably spend money on a new transmission, rear end, and suspension... my power fix will have to wait, poor me.

Mackey, I dont want to sell the heads just yet. I definitely will keep the high ports in mind though.
