Who's using the old-style timing cover for mechanical fuel pumps on their 5.0?

I'm building a motor for a friend of mine. I'm using the FRPP Fox-Body conversion kit, which came with a new timing cover, water pump, oil pan, and balancer. The problem is the new timing cover is set up for a mechanical fuel pump. It also has a hole for the old-school, front-mounted dipstick tube. What did you guys do to block off the dipstick hole? Where can i get a block off plate for the fuel pump opening? His old timing cover broke when the motor blew up, so I can't re-use it. Motor is going into a '90 vert. Thanks

Cool, thanks. I'm guessing for the dipstick hole I can just tap it and thread a plug into it.

That's what I have. Mine came with a block off plate and a little freeze plug type thing to block off the dipstick hole. I didn't like how the freeze plug might fall in, so I just threaded the hole and stuck a bolt in there. Works great, lol.

I made a block off plate for mine out of aluminum flat bar that looks pretty much identical to that one, it's just not as shiny and it doesn't have the ford logo on it.

I actually plan to use one of the older timing covers on my EFI 408 turbo. I can use the block off plate for the turbo drain instead of a fitting in the pan.

I work at an auto parts store and have been going to them for years. Any parts store will have that block off plate that you need. The right size freeze plug will work in that hole and not fall in or you can thread it with a tap that you can get at the same store and then use a pipe fitting block off. Looks better than a bolt.

Where did you guys hook up your negative battery / ground cable? Did you just attach it to one of the fuel pump block off plate bolts?

there is a provision on the pass. side of the block down by the oil pan it is all ready threaded and will just need like a 3/8 bolt .
