why change MAF

And IMO, I wouldn't change the MAF unless your pegging it. The only thing my C&L MAF did for me was cause me to run leaner than I already was with my SCT chip tune. I finally removed the C&L and replaced it with the OEM one, and now, a week later, it feels as strong as it did with the C&L. I had replaced the MAF at the same time as the plenum and TB, so I thought it was part of the combo for my new found power. Turns out it wasn't doing anything good. Stay with your OEM. :nice:

For a naturally aspirated 4.6 a C&L isn't a bad mod. The basic function of a C&L meter is that it removes the backflow inhibitor (which the stock unit has) and flows more air thus leaning out the mix a tad, not nearly enough to cause any damage. This mod works efficiently with a modified exhaust, I've had one on my 98' since new and have had no problems at all...BTW, the stock MAF meter IS 80MM...

I am almost 100% sure, all 96 to present GT's have an 80mm MAF. 65 is the TB size until about 2002 where it became 70mm.

Well Vax since every here wants to get technical to the point of stupdity I think you have all the information correct except your a little off on the TB sizing of the 2002+Gt's. Its 69mm, not 70mm. :D

Stock is 75MM !!!!!!

Look at this- Stock 2002 75mm next to a 90mm
