I have never really thought much into it because i have always had one. even when i had other toys (96gt) i still had a fox. and now that i dont have one i realize how much i do like them. i wish i could save every fox out there. My wife, and the majority of people around me think im crazy to want to give up a perfect 98 that is mechanically sounder in everyway for an older car. but thats just what i want.

i tried to explain to them the desire i have for one but they dont understand. Hell look at the classic stang 64.5-67 coupes and fastbacks. a fox is superior to them in everyway but those cars are in more demand now than ever. i see those cars selling for rediculous prices. even rusted out junkers are selling for a premium. I guess it all depends on how bad you want something. And to me a nice clean, straight and um molested stock fox is worth more than a modded or high HP 10 footer. and its deffinatly worth more than my 98, to me that is.

wow this thread keeps on goin. A lot of hating on new wave mustangs in here, I love the newer mustangs, you see them a lot but they are nice. I think im one of those people who likes both and would like to own a fox along with a newer mustang. The cobra I just bought is 1 of only some 130 cobra convertibles in performance red with the dark charcoal interior. It is also stock so I like the feeling of knowing no one else has one just like mine around. I still honestly think my old fox got more looks, it definatley turned heads with the sound alot too.

Yep, and I read somewhere that it posted a 105mph trap. I don't recall which gearbox it was running (probably a manual) but for an n/a v6 sedan that's moving pretty good.

Fox bodies are cool cars to Mustang owners (not even all of them). They saved the Mustang from it's demise (ala Ford Probe) and helped bring "toy" cars back into the limelight. They have a unique history, and are definately still nice and worth building.

BUT, this really does only hold true in the small community that is Mustang enthusiasts.

GM and Chrysler guys, well they don't care about fox bodies (for the most part). Classic guys, well they think they look like Escorts. Import owners, although the fox body is the standard car to beat in a race, they don't actually like them. Mustang owners, even some of these guys don't care for the fox body.

I like reading why we all own them, and we can all relate and agree, but the majority of the world probably doesn't see things the same as us! Not a bad thing per say, just the truth...

IMO, of course. need that disclaimer on everything.

I agree. There are the guys who can appreciate a Fox for what they offer but for the most part, other crowds don't share our enthusiasm. lol The only reason people around me have the slightest interest in Fox bods is because I've obsessing over them for so long.

It's easier for me, being born in the 70's, to appreciate a 60's era mustang, than it is for someone born in the 90's to appreciate a fox. I guess you just have had to live in the era.

I was born in the 70's and appreciate the 60's and 80's Mustangs for what they were, but at the same time I don't make them out to be any more than what they are. My teenage youth was spent during the Fox body heyday. I owned 3 of them....but I'm also quite able to recognize the cars built in the 90's and 00's for the better built cars that they were and are now.

It doesn't mean I appreciated my old Fox body any less, it just means I'm able to recognize and accept its limitations and chose to move on.

I'd love to have an old Fox again, but I could never see myself spending big money on it, nor could I ever truly rely on it as a daily driver and I could never pass up an SN95 or an S197 if it were offered to me at a great deal if that meant getting rid of my Fox.

I could see me owning a fox forever, merely because they are cheap to own, mod and enjoy. If I had unlimited funds, I would have a fox, but I would have a LOT of other, nicer cars as well!

well i own one because i love the small body style and like someone else said, its easy to mod. i really enjoy it. plus i get all the fine older chicks. seems they know more about the fox body than men do around here. lol. and to top it off i kill those four door chevys around here. i can recall the time my car was `down because i needed to save up for my tags and the caprice guys would pass and rumble their pipes. lol. mad me mad so i slapped a couple of bolt ons thanks to you guys and whipped some ass. lol

Would i TAKE one? hell yes. for the engine, not the car. I really dont like what ford has done with the S197 to begin with. But then to pick parts out of the bin and have carrol write his name on the dash just goes to show who built the car. Marketting guys, not engineers or car guys. Theres nothing shelby about it. I think its disrespectful to ACTUAL GT500s and really, really, really unoriginal. Same goes for "bring back the 5.0" even though that engine has never been in a mustang before, and therefor cannot be brought back. Real car guys dont like to be unoriginal, they like to be unique. Fords marketting crew is just cashing in on previous acheivements. LAME

I think they are nice cars but as Gearbanger101 mentioned earlier; the S197 isn't quite what I was hoping for. The new look for 2010 is definitely a step in the right direction (inside and out). As for the new GT500 I am all over that bad boy. Until recently the '03 Cobra was at the top of my "do want" list in terms of newer Mustangs but it was bumped the second I laid eyes on the 2010 Shelby. That thing is sick.

i could honestly win a million dollars tomorrow, an the first car i would buy is the cleanest notch i could find. no bs an i would go on a shopping spree an make the car exactly what i want. 2nd buy would be two 93 cobra's, one teal with grey leather, and the other a red with black interior. call me crazy but i really love foxes. and i would deff buy my capri back an restore it to stock interior an exterior with fresh black paint an rs decals like it was off the showroom floor with one hell of a drivetrain. this would be easy considering the capri is sittin in my driveway next to both my 90 an 89 lx's lol

You know how many times i heard "That's a Mustang?? i thought they had little horsies on the front?"

But then with my '03 GT...I think i counted something like 32 pony emblems from the factory on it in various places. The damn windshield had THREE of them!

if my fox had ponies on it, anywhere. ide rip them off and throw em in the garbage lol. i come from a family of real horse people... trust me when i say, ponies are for little girls.

+1, im in no way negative towards business or making a buck. but come on, come up with something new. first the retro crap, now the "briniging back the 5.0" how lame is that? now every idiot i know is telling me that they are making 5.0's again...

If I won the lotto I put build something around a GT4788 make some stupid amount of power run 8's and drive it. In my car nothing else. I would also buy a house and put the rest in the bank.

Well if I won the lotto... the stang collection would be; fix my fox the way I want it, get a '67 coupe, a '99 Saleen S351, and a S197 just to have a modular stang.

I cant own two of the exact same cars at the same time, like two foxes, IDK... it looses its mystique for me. Having a Fox and S351 would be pushing it.

Take one? Sure, it'd be dumb not to take one. Then I'd take mine to the nearest Toyota dealer, and trade it on a new Tundra 4X4 4dr, that'd tow the new enclosed trailer(with my Fox in it) that I'd get with the money from the GT500(or whatever nameplate they throw on to sell it). No matter how many folks say how bad my Fox is, it is absolutely no more "limited" than any other Mustang, cept that Terminator. For all the things it doesn't do as well as some of todays cars, it did and does other stuff they can't hope to. Does everybody like them? Hell, no, and I'm sure they have valid reasons for that (prolly got their asses handed to them by more than one, I would imagine. They hate that). But thats a good thing, freedom to do what you like, personified in a car. The thread is, why do I drive a Fox? They do what I want, and always have. Fortunately, there are thousands of brosephs that think the same- back then, and now, a whole other generation to learn what addicted all 2.5 million of us original owners back in the day. Soul is the intangable I was thinking in my first posted to this thread. And, it'd definitely be a Porsche GT2 AWD with the winning lotto ticket. There is no substitute.
