Why does 5.0 Talk suck lately?

All joking aside. I haven't been here as much as some of you. However, I joined for a lot reasons most of you have/had. I've recieved a lot of help from here, saved a bunch of money by switching my insurance to geico, and met a lot of cool people (With the exception of GTOReturns).

I dont mind the derailments, as I'm much a part of them as any other guilty of such talent. However, I'm seeing more problems coming from FNG's (Fockin' New Guy's) with the "I went street racing threads", "Guess my weight & or HP/TQ", "So this street ricer's civic....", "I have a rash on my....", and so on. I've noticed an increase on complete crap posted in the 5.0 talk lately. And, I've started reading less on the new threads of 5.0 talk because most have sucked.

If you guys want us mods to tighten up on the rules it can be done. This will mean more locking of threads that appear to be headed down the toilet, more infractions issued and members getting pissed off in general.

So if the general consensus is that 5.0 talk has become degraded lately, then i guess we have no choice but to enforce some of the rules more seriously.

That just means i get more PM's from angry members (who tend to have post counts under 100) telling me they will never post on stangnet again.

So with that said, consider it an informal warning. If anyone has problems with a thread or someone, shoot me a PM.

The problem is that these 'derailments' as you call them, just continue to add to the complete crap being posted. Honestly, how often can you look at a picture of a muffin, or a gerbil with a pancake on it's head and laugh?

You can't even look at a pertinent thread related to cars anymore without having to sift through 4 pages of completely asinine BS about muffins, carp, or just general childish name-calling and constant negativity and bickering by some of the members on here.

At least with an off-topic post, you can just scroll past it in a matter of seconds. You aren't forced to open the thread to look at it. You want to post a thread about a race you had with a Honda? Fine, I'll read the subject and just scroll by.

What sucks is when you open a thread that someone created to highlight progress they are making on a car, ask questions, or get opinions on recent track times, and you are welcomed by post upon post of useless garbage about RsStang wanting to take Ryan to the Octagon, or all of that thread derailing nimroddery.

Don't get me wrong, I think a lot of the people doing this stuff are probably generally good guys that enjoy this hobby and whatnot, but the afforementioned stuff does get kind of annoying/nauseating after a while.

Yes, we did. We've had it a few times. But if its necessary for you to puff out your chest in order to give yourself internet machoism and make a silly statement so public, then you've got far worse problems.

If you've still got a problem, feel free to PM me and we can "debate" it some more. You only further endorsed my point.

So, you want nothing but positive posts allowed? Nothing is worse that a forum like that. At a non car forum I go to, thats larger than stangnet, someone posted a question that get sasked 3 times a week easy. I was the first to reply with, "Hey, ya might want to try a search, I think we've been down this path before." I was flammed by the next 5-10 posts for being rude, and then a moderator chimed in, deleted my comment, and gave me some sort of warning. I guess to many warnings to quickly and you get banned.

Forums like that are simply GAY!

Also i dont understand why i get flamed for being a dickhead and saying what i think on a public forum. Its kinda like people get mad its something they dont wanna hear.. If you dont wanna read or hear something dont read it or ask for opinions.. I try to give tech advise instead i get 2 newbies arguing with me that im wrong when they have no experience on the subject at hand..

That's just it. There are a lot of outsiders who are new to the forums who look at that sort of posting and don't realize it's all in fun.

Take a look at your group of friends. I'm sure you all take jabs at each other. What would happen if you are having fun with each other and a total stranger jumps in and starts insulting you? Don't you take a step back and say "woah, who is this guy?"

These new guys see this sort of behaviour and think it's perfectly fine and it escalates over time.

I'm really trying to let you guys police things yourself, but i'm going to do what i have to if the general consensus is 5.0 talk sucks.

NOBODY should ever be afraid to post a thread about something with fear that it will degrade into name calling and insults being hurled. If you want to do that sort of stuff, i know another Mustang forum where they love that sort of stuff.

I guess i'll start with this thread then.
