Because they are Loud and tinny like that of cheap hondah.

Soound is purely subjective thing. I personaly don't like it. And some love it.

I've had BBK O/R X, witch sounded bad(IMO), and o/r Prochamber, prolly nicest sounding mid pipe I had, and I now have O/R H now, and I guess its great.

And I'm old school and I hate stupid loud exhaust.
But if you are getting BBK O/R X for LT header, be sure to post pic. I'm kind wondering what it would sound like

it's not that they knock on them it's all personal preference, some like the old musclular sound of the H others like teh more exotic sound of the X. Although the X will give you more raspiness if not paired up right with a good catback

well, people hear xpipes all the time and assume they are h pipes. when an xpipe sounds like **** is when its paired with a chambered muffler. i personally think hpipes sound gay and cant wait to get rid of mine. with my magnaflows and h pipe, my car sounds like its farting

With some mufflers, they sound like a loose floppy ass hole farting into a jar.

....you and your F'n Flowpaths.....

thats a VRS x-pipe with Mac cat-back by the way. yes ive posted it before, and yes i'll whore it out again. many, many times

theres nothing wrong with an X-pipe, it just makes a bit more power than an H and has a higher tone. the BBK X, im sorry to say, ive heard nothing but bad things about. thats why i recommended getting a VRS x-pipe thats made to fit BBK headers. I hope it works out for you with the BBK X, but all ive heard its bitching about that thing.

it depends on the xpipe. pipes like BBK sound like chit. you have to pair the xpipe and mufflers up the right way to get a bad ass sound.

personally, i have the mustangtuning o/r xpipe and 40 series flows. I've never had anyone say it sounds bad. i get fellow stangers asking what combo it is all the time. one day alone, i got 5 compliments while driving around town. one of those guys was an LS1 owner w/ SLP on his Z28.

I have no idea. Becasue they are better and everyone likes to run yesterday's technology?

I am assuming it has to due with chambered mufflers and resonances. they all have them and I am sure incorrect placement of the x-pipe can move that into an anyoying rpm range or something.

I would bet a ton of money though if you had a 400hp+ car and build a custom exhaust correct placement of an xpipe will always give a significant HP advantage due to better scavanging.

I love the sound of my borla with an x-pipe though. I just sound aggressive and mean. I have heard some clips of cheap x-pipes and flows that had some anoying resoncance to it though. Some people will say it is raspy sounding but it is really a resonance in the champers producing this sound.

I don't hate on Xpipes. Good Buddy has one on his cobra and I think it sounds REAL good. Just not the sound I like. It is the bbk Xpipe with LT and a magnapacks I think. Sounds great for his car.

I like the following X pipes:

VRS, Mustangtuning, Pypes, SLP, Magnaflow, Dr Gas, UPR. These are the only X pipes that sound good with chambered muffs to me.

Now BBK and Basani have a tendency to be raspy as hell with the same muffs.

I might have got an X if I didn't love the prochamber so much. I also love the sound an O/R H makes.

it's all about having the right setup. i have JBA shorty headers, SLP catted X, and Magnaflow catback. it sounds great. my friend has an 02 with o/r h and some kind of flowmasters and it's sounds good too. they are just different. his rumbles down low a bit more and mine screams up top alot more.

and just to add fuel to the fire, X pipes make more power than H pipes.

I love my Dr. Gas X. I'll neve go back to an H. Usually X pipes are better with straight through mufflers. IMO the only exception would be to use Flows / Mac mufflers with an X.

I think mine sounds pretty FN good, and not that loud even off road w/ Magnaflows (not packs)
