Why does my steering wheel shake? And Why does my front wheels sit like this -> / \

Hello, everyone

Here's some more questions to throw out there. I have an annoying shaking steering wheel while normaly driving, it shakes side to side. Any ideas what to replace or how to cure this problem. Also both my front tires sit at an angle like this ---------------> / \ <----- any ideas how to fix this, I have gotten alignments, but it doesn't cure it. My mods list is below if it will help to determine anything. Thanks greatly for any advice.

sounds like you have a bad belt in a tire
thats your shaking problem at least probably

You'll have to get your camber readjusted to fix the toe in on your wheels. My steering wheel shakes on me when I'm braking from a high speed... don't know whats causing it.

Thanks guys for the advice, never thought my tires could be bad, that really stinks. Good quality tires are so expensive

To Mr:1105 I have had that problem with braking, mine was affected by warped rotors, I replaced them and never had the problem again. Just a thought you might consider, thanks for your advice. : )

Ya, rotors are price. The thing is when I replaced mine I got the same kind(stock). When I could have bought those cross-drilled or those brembro cryo treated ones which are the same price and a lot better. Oh well, live and learn, you might want to check the better ones out when you get the molla.

just get them cut, it costs like 10 bucks a piece, doing that stopped my steering wheel shake on braking

ya, just go to a brake shop and have them shaved/turned. I had taht done and it would of been the end of my braking and wheel shaking problems if my ABS decided not to take a $hit on me that same day.

Mine starts out when cold with a little shimmy in the steering wheel. It seems to fade away after a few minutes. Whats up with that?

is this the 60mph shake? our cars have a TSB ( i think) about the front contol arm bushings causing this problem. Dont replace the bushings, replace the entire arms with new updated ones. its cheaper and easier.

Well, my steering wheel shakes at high speeds, like 85+, and I was told to get my tires rotated and balanced and that would fix it. I don't know how much this will help, but I trust the guy, he knows what he is talkin about. I will let you know if this works.

I don't see any castor/camber plates on your mod list. So, a set of those would give the necessary adjustment to get the camber closer to factory (mine is at factory spec now).
