Okay this is kinda tricky! I have a flex fan on the water pump a 165 thermostat and a two core radiator (not the best I know!). And recently I decided to install a hood scoop which is supposed to be a stick on dress-up but I made it functional. SO after I get it on I decided to put a electric Hayden fan underneath the scoop blowing straight down on the plenum. Which I figured would help with all the stop lights and stop and go driving I do. So after a bit of testing without the electric running it runs around 165 to 170 degrees with the electric fan on it runs 170 to 180. It doesn't need the electric fan i suppose but I would like it to stay around the thermostat range in traffic so it don't lock out. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. THANKS

Well, heat rises and the hood fan is keeping the hot air in the engine bay. Plus the flex fan is pushing hot air on the engine and and the hood fan is pushing it back, so the heat has nowhere to go; that's my guess. Take it off.
170-180 isn't hot at all, not even warmed up really. You should have a 180*+ thermo in there; and what do you mean by 'so it don't lock out' ? Have you ever had any overheating problems in the past, like boiling over?

actually no boiling it just didn't get warm at all when i bought it. so i thought when i bought it that they took out the thermostat but when i removed the housing it had a 195 in it and it was opened so far it locked itself into place. i would've put 180 in it but i don't know how long the car has been driven on no heat at all. and i thought about the heat rising but i didn't think it would make that much of a difference. thats what i get for thinking lol
170-180° isn't hot at all. My low speed fan doesn't turn on until 208° (well, until I change it in my tune anyway). I wouldn't be worried about your temps at all.
