I've noticed that my car isn't making boost in 1st gear. Once I get into 2nd, it starts to make 5-6 #. Is it because in 1st, it doesn't have time to make boost?

You should be making boost any gear as long as you're under load and at decent RPM's.. perhaps your boost gauge is tapped to a weak line or something.

What gears do you have? With 4.10's I don't make much boost in 1st because it is so short that it doesn't have time to build up. The rest of the gears I make 9lbs

Stock 3.27 gears

Up to 5800-6000 rpm

I'll check, but I think it's on a good vacuum line.

Weird. I'll check with Vortech, but I figured it was because 1st gear is so short anyways. I know my buddy with '03 Cobra makes boost in 1st gear, but he's got a roots blower.

Any chance my bypass valve isn't working right?

if its not working in first gear, it shouldnt work in any other gears. If your not giving it full throttle a centr. wwont make boost. it makes boost alot easier in other gears.

True. Kinda hard to keep full throttle when it smokes all the way through first and most of 2nd...

Something isn't right. I have 4.10's and I see full boost in 1st gear. Boost is dependant on RPM. You have to look real fast, but mine spikes upto 15lbs of boost. Things to look for...belt slip, bad bypass, improper boost gauge install.

I see good boost in 1st gear with 373. I agree maybe your guage isn't working. And if you are smoking your tires through out 1st and some of 2nd i would think that you are making some boost. GL with the problem it doesn't sound like anything is to wrong.

Ever get this figured out? Guage at a bad line?

Like it was said above, if you are smoking 1st, you are boosting. That or you are dumping the clutch.
