why is a 4.6 car better? help me make up my mind. lol

I disagree my last fox would out handle any worth sn95. It had 4 wheel disk brakes with power slot rotors and a full MM suspension. It was also very comfortable and the ride was amazing. If you want a sn95 and a fox just buy a fox and put everything from a sn95 car. Then you would have a pretty nice car.

Silliest argument ever. :nonono:

The SN95 from every technical aspect is the better car...hands down. The fact that you've got to pirate parts from the SN95 and do a complete overhaul of the factory suspension on the Fox and replace it with aftermarket components just to meet or beat one proves as much.

Fox's have their place, but they've got their limits too. Some of you guys still seem to be having a hard time with bluring the lines on this?

I've had both, each for 6 years, and i will not go back to a fox,the only things i miss from the fox chassis is the amount of room you have in the engine bay with the 5.0L,and the trunk space from the hatchback, other then that,i really love my new edge.
One of my fav's is still the 4 eyed '85 GT since i had one,but there is no comparison to the SN chassis.
But regardless, they both have there place in history, and served there purpose in the mustangs life span, and with every new model that comes out(if we like them or not),it has been in the right step in the right direction for performance, and comfort. It's alive, and kicking harder then ever, how many brand names can say that! ;)

IMO...no fox rides amazing. I've had tons of fox bodies with different suspensions. They all sucked. The ride of a 94-98 is much better than a fox, and the ride of a 99-04 is even better than a 94-98.

This arguement is gonna go on for pages and pages. The 5.0 was an awesome engine. But lets face it, it's gone now. Ford went with the 4.6L in the Mustang in 1996. Performance enthusiasts were pist. First, the name "5.0" is gone. Second, they didn't like the fact that it was replaced by a smaller 4.6. Then they rode, test drove, or bought the new Mustang with the new 4.6 and they realized how slow and pathetic it was.

In 1999 they got the PI upper half. Now with 260HP people kind of stopped complaining because this is more horse than any 5.0 had. Sales started to pick up again once the 4.6 gained more horsepower. People might still be scared of them since the 96-98's were so unimpressive. Others might have stayed away because technology took over with this motor when compared to a 5.0. They didn't know how to work on it, they didn't know how to mod it, there were little mods for it at the time.

In 2005 it got 300HP. IMO...the 4.6L should have always had 300HP out of the gate.....and now 2010+ SHOULD BE all 400HP.

I like both engines, I don't have a problem with either. I prefer a 4.6L engine nowadays since I've had a couple pretty stout ones. Obviously I like the 4V since I have an 04 Cobra, and just got rid of a 96 Cobra with a 4V. Simply bolting superchargers on 4.6L's add a lot of horsepower and that's why I like them.

If my 5.0 wasn't my first car I EVER owned...i would have sold it and be driving a nice SN95 Saleen, Mach1 or Terminator.

In terms of what *I* consider better, the SN95 always wins, however when it came time to choose between selling ym '03GT, or my '88LX...i sold the GT because of my attachment to the 5.0

Granted...i've modded the HELL out of my 5.0m redid basically everything. Some of the guys who frequent the 5.0 forums have seen the work I am putting into the car...but still, there are days i wish i could fire up my nice new shiny GT with its tight rattle free interior and rev that smooth silky 4.6L and go take it for a ride.

But then i do love the fact that when i do drive my 5.0...it's the only one on the road pretty much. I see 10 SN95's a day!

I had a 4.6L motor in a fox last year, which I guess I had the best of both worlds in one car.

You beat me to it.

My Mach 1 made 306RWHP with a K&N, Bassani Mid Lengths, catted X and a tune. Get a Mach 1 longblock with the stock 3650 and you have a 12 second (on street tires) capable car or high 11's on slicks without even getting into the engine. Drop that into a 4cyl coupe and away you go.

Damn Bill. I had no idea you sold your old blue GT! I remember learning from your threads years ago when I joined the forum and you were working on your car... back in the days when a Steeda timing adjuster was a common mod!

A supercharged Mach is a good choice! Pics!?!?!?!?!

As others said, the 4.6 is a much tighter car, with modern brakes and suspension. Compared to a 5.0, the 4.6 is much smoother.
Just as others said, if you want a toy, keep the 5.0. It's cheaper and you'll have more fun for your $. If you want something to drive daily, get the 4.6. Just as my signature says, I have a fox for a toy (though not a 5.0) and daily drive a 4.6.

Yep those were the good old days. I sold the car so I could afford my house. Took a few years off and got the Mach 1. I've had it for 14 months and I'm on my third combo. :) http://forums.stangnet.com/786271-mach-1-eaton-swap.html
