Why is it Turbo systems are still in the dark?

Mike, why would you not think of doing that. Its what you did with your 94 when it was single, instead you just used the BBK's. Haha

Dark, I don't think you understand what I was saying..

I didn't mean simply flipping shorties and welding up a crossover.. Thats too easy on a car without p/s and a/c, and no swaybar..

What I was refering to is the design such as the Hellion kit..
The factory manifolds are not touched.. they both face backwards in the factory posistion. The drivers side header has a 2.25" pipe that goes from the drivers header, under the tranny, and back to the front, to merge into a 3" pipe. For the pass side header it also faces backwards as factory, after the header the 2.25" pipe loops back around to the front of the car where the two 2.25" pipes coming from each header, merge into the single 3" pipe that goes under the balancer, up to the T4 flange...

If you don't understand a word im saying, go check out the 99-04 Hellion power systems single kit. No headers are supplied with the kit, because it simply uses the stock manifolds that stay untouched..

yea isn't it..Seems too easy, specially for a mod motor car, where the room is tight.

When I do my 01 GT single build, this is how I plan on going about it.. Except I will use the stock K member and a arms.

I know on their 5.0 kits, they do not do this, they simply make a custom pass side header, and have the stock/standard drivers side shorty header loop back around, under the trans, to pass side header.

You can get a kit there minus fuel delivery for $3,000. He is very reputable too.

I bought his TT headers (which are $400) some turbo t3's ($250 for BOTH) So far i'm in for $650.

I'm probably going to be ordering the downpipes which are probably $100-200 (not sure) AND HE WILL MAKE THEM GO INTO YOUR STOCK H PIPE for whoever said you couldn't run cats...

You can get a volvo front-mount intercooler for $20 out of your local jy.

DSM 1g BOV $40

You can use gas tank hoses as the cold side or PVC pipe (strong and cheap as hell)

Add another $100 for misc. crap like clamps...

Theres the turbo kit, and not having to touch a welder it can be done for $940-1040.

Now for a safe and add a decent tune...which is needed for s/c apps anyways...

42lb injectors $230 (ebay special)

Pro-M Mass Air Cal'd for 42's $150 (sometimes you can get a package deal for both even cheaper)

Pro-M Remote Optimizer $50 (tuner) to flatten out your A/F ratio

A BBK fuel pressure regulator (tuner) $80

Timing Light (tuner) $20

Walbro 255lph pump $100

This equals $1,570-1,670..remember not touching a welder and clearing stock accesories.

You could minus about $300 if I would have built my headers but I'm lazy. Now lets mention that this could support 600bhp. Talking about difficulties if you can't bolt on exhaust parts or un-bolt your front clip then you shouldn't even think about doing any performance modifcations to your car.

it sounds like you are interested in doing something like that. if you would like to use mine as a guinea pig, please feel free to go that direction with it. i have bbk shorties and i would be fine with keeping them. but if you have already done most of it another way and want to finish that up, then that is fine with me too. it's your call.

Yeah hellion charges a little too much too.

I'm sure if you found a picture of one and brought it to a decnt exhaust shop they would make it for you for less than what hellion wants.

Blackvert, on my next setup I might try that route, but on yours, its %90 done already, and just have to add some finishing touches.. Tommorow is my B-day, so if i find time afterwards, I might be able to finish it up.. If not, by Monday or Tues. I'll take pics and send them to you, and my info and whatnot so we can get the kit to you asap.

happy birthday! mine is coming up soon too ... june 9th. the turbo is my combination birthday/father's day present to myself.

that is fine about the setup. i was looking at it again and they use an aftermarket k-member to give the pipes clearance. a new k-member is not on my list right now anyways.

A T70 is a very nice turbo...

change out the exhaust a/r for something in the .68 range and you will be good to go.

The .70 cold will be lovely with plenty of room to grow(wheel is nicely sized).

Dont do the 60-1 baby turbo...

IF your gonna do it, go T70 from MP all the way.

I'll speak from personal experience with the master power t70... With the .96 exhaust housing, I saw full boost (10psi) right at 3300rpm. At 10psi traction was a joke, even at that rpm... I seriously doubt you'd have any chance of getting taction at a lower rpm with that turbo, unless your running something close to slicks.

if that was the passenger long tube, i think its the egr tube.

edit: where the egr tube meets the header.....same thing

it is a driver's side header for a single turbo setup.
