tonight my first run at the track I ran a 13.0 at 106 on street tires with a 2.0 6o foot. I feel that my combo should give a better mph am I right or wrong

60 Ft is real crappy so you're losing your mile per hour out of the whole.

Are you getting wheel spin off the line? Can someone see it spinning from the stands? If you're getting wheel spin launching at 3500 then the tires are scrap or your getting no transfer to the rear.

Launch lower RPM on street tires.

Are you using the straight up Nitto 555 tires or the Drag Radial 555R's?

I feel he's missing around 5 mph or so. Probably just tuning. How heavy is the car? What elevation is the track?

Same exact times I was running, only I was more in the 107 mph range and on a true street radial. There is a LOT left in that combo!

it's all in the hook.

better traction or launch technique, get those 60's down to about 1.8 and you'll see 12.60's all day long

1/10 60' = 2/10 ET cut

Yes but a 342 with that kind of stuff done shouldnt be running 12.6s @ 106 mph, it should be goin much faster. Im sure there is something in the tune thats causing the loss in power!

If you spent the bucks on a built motor, You may as well, get it tuned somewhere. after you get a good tune. Leave it alone, work on being consistent. Once you get where it pretty much pulls the same mph time after time, then try to change things. I see far to many people out with new motors, trying to change everything at once, instead of learning the car, and geting a baseline.. I would expect an average 342 to be trapping 117-118. Hell my 306 goes 114, but thats with a great tune, and lots of testing

That seems like a realy good time to me for how bad the 60ft was relative to mph. I ran a 13.01 on an open rear with wheel hop at almost 109. My 60ft times were about 3 tenths off. Id like to see what your car could do with more traction since I have to live vicariously through everyone else that has a simular set up to me. The track wont let me run anymore without a bar in the vert.

The thing is, your E.T. and mph match with that 60ft.

You are using regular street tires.

Now, a dyno would be nice to get it tuned, but your parts are a bit small for "power" but nice for street and driving around.

You may not be shifting at the right rpm or fast enough.

Well I guess the parts have to stay as is cause I am broke. But how much power should this motor setup be making and is there much room for improvement on street tires. I just can't afford the dyno, or tires right now. Also the springs are shot and the lower control arms are stock well the top are modified should this be hurting me.

And finally I don't know if I was shifting that fast but I was shifting at 6 grand and my friends said the car just pulled all the way it didn't bog at all on that pass.

you know i don't believe your mph is slow. I think you are about right.
My car with a 351w was running 13.0's in the 1/4 mile N/A at 1700ft. I was running 105mph. I had slicks and was doing 1.8 60' times. My car would bog bad on launch because of the altitude and the fact i was running way rich. I run around 10 to 1 at sea lvl (WOT)i found out the other day. so no doubt at that alt i was running even fatter and thats what accounted for my bog. You are running at 106 mph. That mph is a indication of your hp. Even when i blew a shift and ran a 13.7 i still went 105mph. Your mph is not really effected much by the 60' time as is my understanding. i think you are running the right mph for your car. Yes you could get more mph out of it but thats only because you will be getting more HP out of your engine with the dyno tune etc etc etc. The suspension work will knock off et but i bet you will not see a huge increase in MPH if any at all.
