That is somewhat normal. Mine does the same.

Just make sure your fluid level is good in the radiator, your electric fan is running at both speeds, there is no debris in front or behind the radiator, the fins are not all bent, thermostat is working properly & you have equal pressure at both the lower and upper radiator hoses.

Other then that, there is nothing you can do. As long as your car is not overheating, you are ok.

I live in Oklahoma, today was in the mid-90s (before heat index was factored in) and on the highway, my temp gauge was at O to R without the A/C and at R to M with the A/C on.

If it's bugging you, I agree with mo_dingo on what you can do, and also buy a $1.00 coolant tester to see how close to 50/50 your coolant mix is. The one time I've overheated, my coolant was something like 95% coolant (water was evaporating through a leaky hose seal).

Scott, good timing.

can you let me know where you run exactly temp wise (per an aftermarket gauge or a letter on the stocker) in given conditions (A/C on, A/C off, on the highway, etc)?

I am curious what is normal in 109* heat. (I am thinking of swapping in a new radiator - the 94 runs a bit hotter than the 88 and is freaking me out a bit).

if you can, thanks bud. chat later.

mine runs at 220 with the a/c on with my autometer mech. gauge, but in going to look at the water evaporating since i have a coolant leak coming from the timing cover.

Just for a little heads up. I was told that when I bought my car that there was a small leak in the AC system. Now, I knew this going into it and the AC worked like it should during normal city driving. However, on the freeway when I turn it on the temp immediately shoots up to the M-A on the gauge. I can tell when the fan kicks on, but its not normal for the car to run this hot, even w/the ac on. Around town it runs at the O-R on the gauge.

I have an AC specialist told me that due to the leak, either compressor or line, that this makes the compressor work harder which makes the car run warmer.

I would like to know this also.
I have all these same problems when I use my AC.
