I know my exhaust sounds a little more crisp and loud during a cold winter start up, but in the summer it sounds the same all the time.

Higher idle (cold idle) is louder than hot idle.
Or your hearing attenuates.
Or the hot-wax shower theory applies.
Or malted beverages induced this thread.

Has do to with cold fuel mapping vs hot fuel mapping.

My car does the same thing. Cold cripsp day it sounds awesome on startup.

Hot day after running...more mellow

Yeah i can understand a fuel injected car but mine is a carb car so i would think it would run pretty much the smae cold or hot no? but yeah i think it has to do with cold vs. hot tho...

Well especially on a car with forged pistons, it's going to be even looser till they swell a little and seal, so it's going to sound a little rough and tumble.

All cold starts cars make more noise, stuff just isn't up to temp and like posted, FI cars are on the cold map.
