why no holleys?

why does it seem like few people on here run the holley intake compared to cobra/trick flow/ and edelbrock? is there any real disadvantage when looking at it for an initial upgrade with stock heads/ cam, and looking for a 300 rwhp h/c/i set-up later? the only real reason i dont care much for trickflow and edelbrock is i dont care much for the finishes they offer, and the holleys look pretty sharp unfinished/polished... plus u dont see them everyday around here. any thoughts on power they make compared to the others?

I heard there a larger intake and its not that good for mild street heads and cam becuse you'll loose low end punch

i know they are sexy intakes and i would love to get the h/c/i kit they offer i think it would be a great addition to a 347...but i gotta watch how much im spending!! lol

It's a little taller and doesn't fit under the stock hood very well.

Like stated before the ports are larger and shorter so its a little much for a mild 302 combo, unless you rev it up!

I've run the Performer, and Performer RPM. I did loose some low end torque, but I gained up top. The rpm's that I lost torque at, I'll never see on the dragstrip.

It's an awesome intake, everyone is using it in NMRA pure street and Renegade

crap, its a sick intake... what intake comes with the holley systemax hci kit? its only rated for 350 BHP so why would they put suck a high revving intake with parts designed for a mild set-up... compatible with an otherwise stock 302?

I've heard they are great for Forced Induction apps. due to the big ports. I don't know anyone that has one though.

the ports on the holley are huge compared to the performer rpm. the size of the lower ports line up almost perfectly with the intake ports on the fr 185's. it is definitely not the intake to run on an n/a 302. that is the intake i run on my blown 331.

As others have said ................
Intake ports too large
and
Some said the cam was too aggressive for a mild 302 h/c/i combo

well, looks like i have 2 options... wuss ou and get a smaller intake, or step up my goals with enough power to split my block no, in all reality ill just get another intake, and i meant no offense to anyone by calling the other intakes wussy, its all relative to the set-up. whats the finish on the holley? and is there any other way to get that polished, but not chromed look on any of the other tried and true intakes? i know you can get a "natural" finish on the trick flow, but that would take me a lot of work to keep clean, and i just dont think i could go polish something that big without more experience already...i'd be afraid i wouldnt like the way it came out. plus with a job and college, i wouldnt have enough time until summer

well.....i have a 1000hp capable rotating assembly in a 500hp capable block. the dart block would have been great but i couldnt justify another $2000 for the dart block at the time i bought my motor.

Answer: because they are scared to make power

run a cam that revs to 6500 and a set of heads that breath and you will make 330+ with that intake

The intake ports on the Holley are huge. They fit on the AFR 185's fine but when matching the Edelbrock lower on them I would have needed a major port job.

The Holley intake is the reason why Justin Timberlake named his new CD like that.

I would give the "R" the edge it is a "race intake" with no PCV etc

The Holley isnt that radical
