There has got to be something wrong with my car. the other day me and a freind were out driving when we pulled up to a stop light. he has a 04 grand prix gt so we decided to race. i had him off the line by about 8 feet but at about 20mph he was pulling on me pretty hard an eventualy passed me at 40. then just yesterday me and my brother were going home and the light just turned green as i pulled up next to him. so we hit at about 10 mph and we were dead even the whole way to 60. he has a 02 aurora 3.0 V6. my question is do you think there is something wrong with my car or are these cobra's just that slow????
It feels like it doesnt want to move after 3000 rpms. also my mods are LT headers, O/R h, American thunder catback, U/D pullies, drop in K&N, and 3.73's
And if anyone is from the detroit area where is the closest place i can get it dynoed at? Thanks

Woa dude, sounds like there's something wrong with it. Pull the codes and see what's up. Autozone should do this for free, otherwise you can buy a code scanner from midwayautosupply.com. Get the OBD1 code scanner with the LCD screen, and get the extension cable too.

wow, your car should be pretty quick. Something is probably wrong. WHen's the last time you did a tune-up? I got a OBD1 code reader from walmart for $32.00. Works great.

Have you ever cleaned your MAF sensor? That seems to work for alot of people.

I also got my code reader at walmart. I did not get any codes though

before u go out and spend money. make sure the mass airflow sensor is clean. It could be that and its a free fix. When myine became dirty it was like it took a year to hit the rev limiter. after i cleaned it my car pulled like the day it rolled off the assembly line.

can't say for sure if something is wrong with your car, but something to think about...11 yr old technology vs 3/1 yr old stuff. Look around for the specs on the cars you tangled with. I was looking at Xterra's for the wifey, v-6 makes 265hp...just something to look into. good luck

yes theres some truth to that, but no he shouldnt even come close to just hanging with, much the less being pulled on by either of these cars, my 94 gt pulls all over a gtp at work, and have taken down an aurora very easily... these two cars are such big boats...( i dont want to be a cocky stanger, but im just using a refernece) there is def something wrong with the cobra especially with it not wanting to climb pat 3 g's.. i'd second( or third) the maf cleaning, it happened to me and i had a very similar problem as him with not wanting to rev up high, now its like a new car... just buy the spray on electrical contact cleaner aqt an auto parts store and spray it off, or i've heard of guys using rubbing alcohol and a q tip but i'd rather not touch the fragile wires... other than that, check plugs, cap and rotor, pull the codes, get a new air filter, pcv valve etc and just get that thing in good running condition and i bet you'll have your head hitting the rest untill you let off the gas, these cobras can be very quick considering its a n/a 5.0 with your few mods which do help...good luck man and dont give up on the potential of this car!

BTW Livernois Motorsports & Alternative Auto both have dyno's and know mustangs real well.

And you should be slaughtering those cars, check the basics first and then maybe have some experts look at it.

THANK YOU GUYS!!! i just cleaned my MAF and thing is faster than ****!!! I had to use about 5 Q-tips to get all the **** off.. I got the car last year and thought that the 5.0s were just slow and that mine was too. i could not even spin the tires unless i popped the clutch and now i can spin them even when i barely hit the gas. Now i am starting to wonder if i even needed the 3.73's. This is a night and day difference. i just cant believe i had it for a year and a half now and never saw the potential. thanks again

drag radials......BFG & Nitto's are both pretty decent, with the BFG's being stickier but having a shorter tread life.
