just goto the track to get a true representation of how fast/slow you actually are... and how good of a driver you are

Haven't you tried an LS1 yet ? You're making some good numbers. You should be able to give a decent run against one. They're heavier cars generally. I tried one the other day but he didn't bite; actually I tried two, but the second one was an LT1 I believe, and he didn't bite either.

While I'm here, I'd like to ask a question. Sorry about the jacking. Mods are in my sig and I have a stock FPR. A/F is 13.5 fairly steady across the board. How much do you think I'll gain with an AFPR?
Right now I'm making roughly 285 rwhp and 317 rw torque (was 280rwhp &311 rwt before pullies). My buddy figures I'll easily gain 10 rwhp once it's richened up some. I'm also running with cats, smog pump and AC, and stock computer.

The only time I've come up against one at the street, it was a C5 with nitrous. It was a pretty good race up until the moment he hit the button, then it was quite ugly. I thought I hit a brick wall or something .

At the track, I've only raced four or five, and as luck would have it I won all of those races. There are plenty of quick LS1's, though, that would happily smoke me all day long, I just haven't met up with one at the track yet. With the power I have it's a driver's race with a stock one. Ain't that sad ...

thanks, I needed a good laugh after work! You need heads, cam, intake, exhaust, and gears to give an LS1 a decent run...

I've raced a Camaro SS at the track and beat him. He had DR's too. It was close but I crossed the line 1st. I guess I could say I've beat an LS1 !

Anyone running in the 13's should give any LS1 a run. Very few LS1's are running in the 12's stock. Most are mid 13's ish. I actually frequent the LS2 board and shoot the ****e with quite a few LS1 owners. We like to trash talk one another but they're a good well rounded group and it's all in good fun.
Even an LS1 with a lid, headers, and a cutout are still running in the 13's. Some are well into the 12's with DR's.
There are the odd one's that have hit the 12's with just a lid. A lid for those that don't know is the same as a cold air intake on a stang. The difference is that a CAI for a stang does pretty much squat, whereas a lid for an LS1 gives big returns. The same can be said about headers and a cutout. It's funny how different mods act differently for different vehicles. Cutouts on Mustangs apparently hurt your low end.

HairyCanary. I would say you did fine against that C5. Nitrous IMHO is cheating. I want my car to be able to do on the street the same that it can do on the track, and here Nitrous is illegal on the street.
How would that race have turned out if you had the same shot of nitrous? It's cheap, cheating, and false horsepower, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah, I used to own a 96 Civic hatch - but I swapped in the H22a VTEC motor from a newer Prelude (205 hp/160tq) that was in a 2000 lb car. THEN i added a 50 shot of n20, CAI, exhaust, and ECM chip. It was a quick lil car. Without the CAI, chip, and n20, and with my timing WAAAAY off due to an oversight of my own, I did a 14.5@96 MPH- couldn't hook up off the line. That was a 95 deg day with 99% humidity. Those cars run low 14's/high 13's with a swap like that.. Then add the n20. They're not bad, IMO.. BUT of course this does not hold true to 99.99999% of the Hondas out there. Just saying they CAN be made to move decent..

some of us here, should start looking out for the new breed of turbo imports. They are fairly quick from the factory, and even quicker with minimal mods. Such as the Turbo Neons, WRX's and hell, even Eclipse GST/GSX's.

Watch out guys! they are on the move!!

Well you should also look at the price of these cars compared to how much you pay for a used GT now

um you can get an ls1 for under 10

and the price argument is dumb, especially when you are making monthly payments.

those are the most rediculous comments .

nitrous is cheating?
its illegal? so are alot of cams heads and running an OR hpipe. its not smog legal thast the only thing.

how would it turn out? ever heard of run what you brung?

false horsepower? seems to work just find to me and it mysteriously shows up on the dyno.

So a blower is fake HP too? they both increase the amount of oxygen in the cylinder for more explosive combustion when additional fuel is added

it may be your opinion, but that doesnt mean that it isnt ignorant

If you find my opinion ignorant then to each their own. I won't lose sleep over it. Yes nitrous is illegal and the absence cats is illegal. That's why my car is legal. No, a larger cam is not illegal. A SC is always there but when your nitrous bottle runs out where are you? It's fake horsepower and yes that's my opinion.
If you don't like it use your ignorant mouse finger and click the X on the top right corner of your screen.
