I'm sorry but i have been reading alot of post new and old. The more i read i see tons of people running 24 pound injectors in a pretty much stock engine. Even here in town i see them running 24 pounders on stockers. I just don't understand it at all. What advantage do you thinking you gain? Understandable with alot of spray or blower but a n/a engine? I personaly have driven a stock 5.0 engine that will run high 12's in a fox body. I mean i have the 24 pounders and a X3Z computer to match but never see the reson to install them. Help me here. I have a little engine i'm building but see no reson to install them because i belive i'm not even close to the point were i think there needed. It's just a 306, E-cam, GT-40 heads and a cobra intake. Nothing big at all in my eye's. Not even going to upgrade the TB but i here from the locals is that i will notice the 24 pounders and the computer. Plz tell me why i should run them. From what i'm running you can tell i'm not going to be setting any speed records at all. I'm not going to blow it or even run the bottle on it. I just don't see the point of running such big injectors on such a small engine.

RICE RICE BABY!!!

Actually, 24's HURT the performance of a stock engine. But, WTF do I know? I just do this cr*p for a living (over a dozen years doing electro-mechanical control systems), taught it for many years, and have my MS in Computer & Control Systems with a minor in Mech Eng.

So, whatever! Let people put 24's in their stock or mild engine. Let them set their TPS to 0.99999999volts. Let them lower their car 1.5" with the ricer B springs.

IT'S OFTEN A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME ARGUING WITH PEOPLE THAT DO *NOT* WHAT TO HEAR THE TRUTH OR LEARN!!

If you search the forums, you see "great" advice on how you can put in bigger injectors and it "doesn't make any difference". Or, how people can used a "calibrated MAF" (A POS C&L isn't even calibrated!) when they mean a SCALED MAF!

Again, what ever!

Yup, run ZILLION pounds injectors, it's fine - Riiiight!

Gee, I guess that ALL of the vehicle manufactures have complete idiots designing the EFI systems. JUST READ THE FORUMS! ALL CARS CAN USE 36# injectors without ANY problem. So, if the vehicle manufactures (and PhDs and MS people like me) HAD A CLUE, we could reduce the number of components we use, make more money, make more power, etc...

IMHO, you often get what you pay for when you read advice in the forums. I know I see a ton of BS and plain wrong info on the Olds forums (I have 3! ). I don't even bother in the GM forums. Often, the moderators and site owners are the most clueless of all.

Don't forget, forums and site are PRIVATE property. Neither you nor I have ANY legal right to "be allowed to post on this site or any other site". So, be careful when you argue against moderators or sire owners. I know, back in the 90's, I used to ban people left and right on another site that I own and used to have a forum on. It was too much work. I just killed the forum and site.

So, do not hold it against Stangnet that BS ind known incorrect info is allowed to be posted. It's either that, or they shut the forums completely down.

Moral of the story: There's a TON of info on the net. IMHO, ~95% of it is outdated, incorrect, incomplete, over simplified, or just plain wrong.

Now, I'll let the people running 24 injectors say how their idle is better then the Camry, they get 300 MPG, and they broke a dyno because it went up to only 2000 HP!

Then, the people with cars that are low-rider weed eaters will say how their car handles like it's on rail and will out handle a brand new (Vette) Z06!

WOW!! Where did that come from? I agree with you but WOW!. I just wanted to hear from some of the guys that do run the 24's. Why? Why do they belive it not a waste of money. After buying the 24's and a MAF to match and if you do it right and use the X3Z computer you could just get a rear-end gear and installed and really notice your 500 bucks. I'm just asking to find out how the other people think. No offenes to them but i'm just trying to geting into there frame of thinking. Maybe you could call me cheap but it try to get the most bang for the buck and i just dont see it when it comes to injectors on smaller engines. Call me old school but somethimes i don't think you have to have tons of HP to go in a straight line of a 1/4 mile and run 12's.

Lots of ranting here but no info or facts.

You will be pushing it with 19lbs, why risk running lean and destroying your fresh motor? I hope you plan on making more than 260hp on a fresh 306. Why not spend a couple hundred on corral for a set of 24's and a "scaled" MAF and not have to worry about it. The BIGGER fuel injectors is where you have to worry about tunning the computer for the injectors because the the bigger the injectors the more multiplying and tricking has to be done. I would rather have a little more fuel than not enough, I hope your not running JUST ENOUGH on the rest of your fuel setup. Oh and when you go with a blower you need to run atleast 42lbers, 24 is far from big.

I am not saying I disagree though, some people do throw 24's on their car when they are not needed.

Injector HP ratings: divide flow rating by.5 and multiply the result by the number of injectors. This uses a 100% duty cycle. These ratings are for naturally aspirated engines.

Example:
19/.5 = 38, 38 x 8 = 304 HP
24/.5 = 48, 48 x 8 = 384 HP
30/.5 = 60, 60 x 8 = 480 HP

The preferred duty cycle is about 85% maximum, so for a safety factor multiply the final figure times .85.

304 HP x .85 = 258 HP
385 HP x .85 = 326 HP
480 HP x .85 = 408 HP

That about sums it for me. I read a lot on injectors and what other people are using before picking mine.

I agree with you here. I usually say once you get up around 300HP flywheel you should have a 24# injector.

Ford agrees as well.

99-04 GT.......260HP.........19# injector

96-01 Cobra .........305-320HP........24# injector

2005+ GT................300HP.........24# injector

LS1's around 320HP have come with a 26# injector as well.

I think a basic combo like gt-40P heads, a cam, and aftermarket intake should put you around that number and you should consider running a 24# injector and a proper tune. That's what i'm building. A 306, gt-40P's, Cobra Intake, 65mm TB, TFS1 cam, 1.7rr's and full exhaust. I def consider 24#ers necessary for that setup and have them set to go along with getting a custom dyno tune after. Many guys have dynoed 280-310HP to the wheels with that setup giving well over 300HP flywheel. Ford slapped 24#ers on it's 300+HP factory cars, so you can argue that you should too.

Now a lot of people don't do it correctly and slap a "calibrated" MAF on or put them on a stock 225HP 5.0. I wouldn't call it ricer. I'd just say they don't know how to put a combo together. It's like the 75mm TB on stock intake and heads, or 3" exhaust and long tubes on a stone stock 5.0.
