I have a 96 Gt and sometimes when I go to start it it will take a few more seconds than it should for it to start, But then sometimes it will fire right up like it should. But like tonite it cranked the engine over for like 6 seconds before it fired up. Is this a normal problem with these cars when they get alot of miles on them. It has 178,000 on it if the odometer is correct. Thanks for any input.

if its cranking slow you could need a new battery.

Normal in a way, but not normal. Theres abunch of mustangs out there that takes awhlile to crank up.

EVen mine does it with a new battery. (not my current exhaust)
Does yours sound like mine? Starts @ 8 seconds and you can hear the long crank==> http://media.putfile.com/Flows-and-OR-Pipe--Startup-And-Idle-

When i first got the car it didnt do this but now it does on every cold start. On warm starts it fires up right away.

-Fuel filter has been changed

It cranks over fine. Good battery. It just doesn't fire like I think it should sometimes. But it always cranks up though.

I had 95's that would crank and crank with no start. 2nd turn of key it would start. It ended up being a bad fuel pump.
