wich mustang will get me to 12s cheapest?

Are you talking cheapest after the cost of the car, or including the cost of the car?

Either way, the '96-'98 Cobra with a good shot of juice should do it. But if you really want all motor, the Mach 1 will probably get you there first, with the least amount of bolt ons.

I would say 96-98 Cobra would be the cheapest including the cost of the car. A Bullitt is still a SOHC 2-valve motor and the 99,01 Cobras have IRS which isn't so good for the strip. The Mach 1 is pretty much the same as the 96-98 Cobra with the New Edge body and different trim package.

The only thing the Mach 1 and the '96-'98 Cobra has in common is their use of a solid axle and DOCH engine. The Mach 1 uses completely different head, intake and cam profiles as well as a far more stout 5-speed transmission (and even has the Auto as an option) with more drag appropriate ratio's. Despite it's use of an independent rear suspension, the '01 Cobra is actually a closer car to the Mach 1, than the '96-'98 Cobra's are.

It you go with the Mach 1 throw some 4.10's in it, short throw shifter, intake/exhaust, you'll have high 12's easy, I'm going to E-Town with new tires next week hopfully i'll let you know my new time.

I didn't realize the Mach was that much different. You learn something new everyday :nice:

ok i have found some numbers 2001 bullitt 14.1, 98 cobra 14.0, 2001 cobra 13.5, 2003 mach 1 13.2, 2005+ mustang 13.5 and im probly going to spend 20-25,000cdn on buying the car

Why not throw an 03 Cobra into the mix? You should be able to find one at that price and will easily run 12's w/bolt ons. If the one you buy doesn't have the bolt ons already I'd be surprised. I was in the market for a stock 03/04 Cobra but had trouble finding one, so I decided on an 07 GT.

mach 1 for the win!

I had a 2003 Mach 1. Stock ran 13.298 @ 104 mph!!

4:10's, cold air, drag radials, off road x-pipe, cat back, 12.6 @ 109 mph!

I'm sure with gears and tires it would hvae ran an easy 12.99.

Also I switched to 3:73's, and ran 12.8 @ 111 mph.

Then traded her in on the 2004 Cobra. 13.0 stock @ 112!! (you have to learn how to launch this car)

2.8 pulley, cold air, throttle body and plenum, hand held tuner, x-pipe(off the mach 1), and cat back, 11.8 @ 119 mph!!!

now I have a 06 vert, and I'm buying time till I can find a gt500 in my price range. I can't justify paying 45K for a mustang.
