looking at buying a mustang which one will get me into the 12s on all motor with least amount of effort? 96-98 cobra, 2001 cobra, 2001 bullitt, 2003 2004 mach 1, or 2005 mustang gt.
The only thing the Mach 1 and the '96-'98 Cobra has in common is their use of a solid axle and DOCH engine. The Mach 1 uses completely different head, intake and cam profiles as well as a far more stout 5-speed transmission (and even has the Auto as an option) with more drag appropriate ratio's. Despite it's use of an independent rear suspension, the '01 Cobra is actually a closer car to the Mach 1, than the '96-'98 Cobra's are.Mach 1 is pretty much the same as the 96-98 Cobra with the New Edge body and different trim package.

You learn something new everyday ok i have found some numbers 2001 bullitt 14.1, 98 cobra 14.0, 2001 cobra 13.5, 2003 mach 1 13.2, 2005+ mustang 13.5 and im probly going to spend 20-25,000cdn on buying the car
No need for bolt ons....the '03-'04 Cobra's run mid/high-12's right off the showroom floor. Why not throw an 03 Cobra into the mix? You should be able to find one at that price and will easily run 12's w/bolt ons.
