Hi there... I am thinking about a new motor this winter. Wich stroker set should I go with? 331 or 347? I would Like to buy a whole motor with everything on it... Where can I get a whole motor like this? and does anyone know a goooood engine setup?

Go for the cubes! More horsepower and torque......all natural. :)

You'd spend about the same money on anything smaller.

Coast High Performance sells a few variation on the 347 as a crate motor and even has one that is emissions legal. I'm planning on using CHP for my 347, cause I've got to pass emissions. D.S.S. also sells 347s and several others as well as a crate motor.

Just in case you read or hear about "oil issues" with 347s, don't worry. 347 nowdays from legitimate companies have no oiling issues and should last at least a 100K miles on a street car. If you race, durability all depends on how much and often the car is beat on.

Well.. if you are going to but through CHP or DSS, they are good about setting up the engine to meet your needs over the phone.. e.g. lower compression for forced induction versus higher compression for NA.

If you are building yourself... as I run NA.. I will defer to the many knowledgeable and experienced members in our forum.

Mike has just been through all of this.

I would bet he could give you a bit of reality or how it really is :rlaugh:

Hopefully i'll be running in a few weeks. Still waiting on my shortblock. I have a buttload of parts sitting right beside me just begging to be installed :D I can tell you that it is not cheap to put a stroker together so with that said, why sacrifice 16 cubes? I don't get it, but too many people unfortunatly take the internet and magazines as gospel. I'm happy knowing I did it as right as I could afford :) In a perfect world i'd build an 8000rpm dart 347+.

The olid issue with regards to the 347 is dead. That was taken care of some time ago. But there is truth to the issue about sidewall loading the the 347. The 331 does not have a problem. THe 347 will make more tq but the 331 will make a few more hp up in the higher rpm range.

yup! that's why I went 331! :nice:
