wich paint gun.. need help!

hey guys i need a paint gun ..going to paint my car in the neer future with a single stage paint..its close to being ready to spray right now for primer i just use a cheapo siphon feed gun ... dont have alot of money to spend was going to get one of these kits by devilbis.....

It looks like the 802343 has two full size cups and the other has 1 full and 1 half size. Either gun would work decent. I use the same brand but a higher up model and have been very happy.

ok thanks alot aipony! it looks like 802343has diffrent size nozzle or nozzles? ( 802343)...Paint Gun, Gravity, 1.3mm Nozzle, Nickel Plated
(802342)...Paint Gun, Gravity Feed, 1.3mm-1.8mm Nozzles
would one be better than the other?? thanks again for your help..

doesnt matter too much because you're "going to use a single stage paint" so either way you're not going to be happy with the outcome. can i ask why you dont want to go base coat/clear coat? the finish you can get after sanding and buffing a bc/cc paint job is awesome. it takes so much work to paint a car it just seems like a waste to use single stage. just my opinion tho.

really i heard it wasnt so bad..i was going to go single stage cause i thought it would be cheaper and easier to do .. seing how it will be the first car i painted and am doing it in my garage.. you dont think ill be happy with it?? maybe ill grab a little bit and pray an old spoiler or hood or something and see what i think of it.. what do you think how come i shold do bc/cc?? i no its more durable and lasts longer right? alot of the body and paint books i have say you can make single stage look really good just not as durable... definatly open to opinions and what not...
what do you guys think any other opinions? or should i make another thread on this??

I agree I only use bc/cc unless its on a tractor or something similar. bc/cc is not that hard to spray and the clear is pretty forgiving if you have a run or sag.

what kind of compressor are you using for these guns??

its a campebell hausfeld not sure exactly what model it is or how big the motor is its a good size compressor stands about as tall as me .. im about 5-10 worked fine with my other gun

wait did you mean you would only use single stage if it was a tractor?

I mean that I personally don't consider single stage paint a good option for painting a car. If your gonna spend a lot of time on prep you might as well use BC/CC.

I agree on the BC/CC. I have done both and the BC/CC is much more forgiving. You can wet sand the clear coat and get a much more even finish. I had a lot a trouble with the single stage and it took a lot more work to fix the boo-boo's. It will cost a little more, but you get what you pay for.

+1 I painted my first Mustang with a single stage and it came out really good and still holds it's shine 7 years later, although it gets waxed at least twice a year and sits in the garage more than it sees the streets. Bc/cc is more user friendly if you have to (or decide to) repaint a panel after a few months/years. If you have to go single stage at least use a Urethane and NOT an enamel. DeVilbis guns are great guns, just make sure to use something that will catch any moisture from the compresser that will end up in the gun and in the paint.

Most cars including Mustangs until the late 80's were painted with single stage from the factory you might want to put a couple of extra coats of paint on so you have some material to work with and a sealer that is close to the color you are painting would be a good idea. When buffing a base clear paint if you go through the clear it will look like crap, just like if you buff through a single stage the color will become see through so just be carefull when your wet sanding and buffing and you will be okay. and use urethane single stage not an enamel. Napa has a decent paint that is made by Sherwin Williams it is called Crossfire if you are looking to spend less money but still want a good quality paint

in my experience bc/cc is much easier to spray, especially the new water base paint. having a thick coat of clear makes it very easy to repair any blemishes, then wet sand and polish to a perfect sheen

o ok i thought single stage was easier to spray and repair.. thanks for all your help.. ill talk too the people at the local paint store before i paint anything.
