I was Wondering what is a good place for the wideband o2 sensor? Ive head of someone putting it on the crossover piece of the H-pipe but would that be effective? If not where else should it be placed? thanks for the time.

I was under the impression the crossover was the place you should avoid putting it, because you don't get a nice laminar flow of exhaust gas accross the sensor in that region, resulting in innacurate readings. The best place to put it is pretty much a few inches downstream from the stock O2 sensors, in either the left or right bank, doesn't really matter. You don't want it too far because the sensor needs alot of heat to function properly. Also, if you have cats, it should be placed before them. If you want to be super duper accurate, you could buy one for each bank of cylinders, but thats if you have lots of money to waste. The best spot pretty much comes down to ease of installation and wire routing. Hopefully someone who has one installed can chime in on what spot they chose.

My PLX said it had to be at least 24in away from the nearest head port. So mine is on the drivers side 25in down stream from the #8 exhaust port. Its been working great for the past couple months.

I have a bung in each collector of my LT's not too far from the other O2's.

You need to look at the info provided by whoever you get your wb from as some caution about geting too close to the heat like John talked about above.

Other wb's, such as those like mine, don't have those restrictions.

I would have a bung installed in each side so you can switch which gives you more options which is always a good thing.

I've got my wideband in the passenger side collector clocked at about 2 o'clock per the instructions w/ the wideband.

Mine is 2'oclock downstream of the stock o2 driver side. I don't know about PLX but Innovatives' O2 is self-heated by the system. Install between 10 and 2'oclock which keeps condensation build up from it. Consult the manufacturer for best results though.

Not much really.

You just follow the directions in the kit.

2 to 4 hours maybe.

Yeah mine was just power and ground and then the plug that goes to the wideband. Mine has two connections that can go to the comp for data logging but i didnt hook them up yet im stand alone right now.

I have the Innovative LM-2 (RPM converter). I just ran a wire from my MSD box to the rpm module for the rpm pulse and the power wire is plugged into the cig lighter. And I snaked the sensor wire thru the firewall to the exhaust. Mine is not a permanent install. One hour install time maybe. Each kit's different though.

actually, aftermarket wide band 02's don't need the heat like factory sensors do.. The best place is a few inches in front of the crossover on either side..Your wideband will last alot longer there.

For my LC-1 I can put it after the muffler if I wanted to. As long as it's not after a cat.

If the thermactor tubes are still going to the cats, then be sure it goes in FRONT of the cats. Extra air for the cats = false lean reading. Plus cats sometimes store and release 02 throwing readings off.

This is a great topic, because it always generates different answers. I was searching for the best location for my LC-1 WB, I searched on here, the LC-1 forums, and eectuning forums. Each place had different opinions.

Some people say it needs to be close to the head, others say the further away from the head is better. Some say put it in the left (Drivers) pipe because that head tends to run leaner...others say it doesn't matter.

Me personally, I am going to install mine on the left pipe, down between the 45* bend and the X, about a foot and a half away from the stock o2.

I am going to watch this thread and see where it goes, I would be interested in reading some facts about it, as opposed to theories. Hopefully someone will chime in with an "expert" opinion.

The innovative widebands don't seem as particular on placement as do others. Most tuning shops just stick them in the tailpipe anyways. Now....with a turbo setup the innovative widebands are a bit more sensitive to heat....so it's recommended to move it farther downstream or add a heatsink. I myself run it on drivers side down by the tranny tunnel and it reads great.
