Widest size tires on 17 x 9 Cobra R's

I bought a set of 4 17x9 cobra r's and the back tires hook for garbage.. they are falkin 245/40/17's..... I am set on the size 275/40/17, but was wonderin if i can stuff anything bigger then that WITH the quyadshocks out (maybe 285/40's)...

Please post pics of your Cobra r's and list the size and make of the tires.. thanks

i'd say 285's/295's.........if your lucky....305s...

if i can get a pic of 285's 295's, thad be cool.. i need to keep my tailpipes.. Dont care much about the quadshocks

I have 17 x 9" '03 Cobra wheels on my '93 LX. I HAD to pull out the quads just to get the RIM to clear, much less the tire! There is plenty of room for the tailpipes even with 295's.

Anyway, I run 245/ 40 17's right now, but have seen and will have 295's on the rear. A 9" rim is plenty wide enough for 295's--305's or 315's may be pushing it. Sorry, thanks to the wonderful new format here, I can't post pics. Eventually I will set up something with Cardomain, but it is a PITA I don't feel like screwing with.

Joe, just go with some 275/40 nitto DRs, you won't even be able to chirp 2nd any more
